Peterbilt 378 Heavy Transport Inc.
Twist67 replied to Twist67's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi Tim, You know I always love to build Peterbilt models since years....You can do so much variations and those Italeri Kits are always nince to built... Thanks for the compliments for the decals and stripes.I made several company logos before but never made some stripes.Don´t know why but it´s going nice.Have to wait how they will look when they are printed out on the decalpaper with my alps...If it works good it opens new possibilitys on making stripes on the models.... Regards,Chris -
Hi there, some people may say we are crazy and they are right...Uwe (oldstyle) and me just started a new project. When he visited me last week we went to my haoobyroom and surfed through Hanks Truckpictures and found some nice trucks we wanted to build... That´s the rig I decided to build: while uwe sets his eye on this one: both pictures are taken from Hanks Truckpictures.Always a great inspiration for truck-loving modelbuilders. 10 minutes after we found the pictures I pulled of two of the reissued Italeri Peterbilt 378 kits and we started planing the builds.I went back to the PC and drawed the decals for our trucks...It took me about an hour and the are ready for the first testprints on normal paper, cutted them out and put them on the cab and hood.... I shortened the frame about 1,2 inch, grabbed some of those Revell Candowrecker front wheels out of my partsbox and put some Italeri trailer tires on them. For the rear wheels we will use some KFS two-holes.I made a rack for the rear of the cab on my machine and have a rolling chassis after 4 days of work on it. And here are some progress pics of my truck with the longer wheelbase: Paint will be Tamiya Camel Yellow for the Cab,Hood,Rack and rear wheels and semigloss black for the frame.Chrome will be painted with Alclad High polished aluminium. Oldstyle will post pictures of his truck on this thread...He has also started with his shorter wheelbase truck ...... Thanks for looking, Regards,Chris

Hi there, thanks for the comments.I made no progress on this one, want to finish my Willig Freight Lines Ford first.... @ Dan,yes, that machine was worth the costs...It´s great to make all those parts and kits. And it´s coming out better and better from day to day. Regards,Chris -
Hi, didn´t know if I had posted this one before. It´s an older build of mine. I converted an AMT Peterbilt 359 into an little Window cab.I got a lot of tips from Tim for that truck. The frame was shortened, the tires came from an old RoG Peterbilt. The trailer was scratchbuilt from palsticsheet. It was all aged and weathered. The hood was also converted into an needlenose hood. The inspiration for that model was taken from an Peterbilt book. Thanks for looking, Regards,Chris

Pete 377 Daycab with Dropframetrailer
Twist67 replied to Twist67's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi Bryan, Thanks for the compliments. The milling machine is an CNC machine.I use Coreldraw for the drawings, the controller software is called WinPC-NC Economy and works with Windows XP.I could also use Autocad but I´m not so familiar with the than with Corel. Take a look at My Fotki site or my Homepage to see more of the parts and kits I have made with that machine.Makes a lot of fun working with it...To make the drawings is time expensive but the results are great... Thnaks for your interest, Regards,Chris -

Twist67 replied to Twist67's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I build an steptoolbox for the frame.Parts are again milled out on my machine. Thanks for looking, Regards,Chris -
Hi there, while I´m working on my 32ft Flatbed I´ve started or better restarted the building process on my Pete 377.I shortened the wheelbase, added some wide resin rims and wide Italerie trailer tires to the front.I also made an daycab panel on my machine with a window and windowframe.I also want to build a trailer for the truck and a headrack with a short deck. For the trailer I used the plans from my dropframe-platform trailer and rework it for a longer trailer. The beams are splitted into two pieces because of the maximum workspace on my machine from about 39 cm.It worked fine and now I have to do the rest of the crossmembers and all the other parts. I attached some pictures of the daycab-panel and also the trailer with truck. It´s painted with automotive colors, the decals are selfmade and printed out with my alps. The grey parts will be Allclad Aluminium and the frame will be semigloss black. But first I have to wire the frame.... Here are the pictures....
