IMC Tanker Trailer
Twist67 replied to Old Albion's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi there, Ray I was the one who built the Duel Trailer......Nice to see that someone has it in his mind.....I´m planning to build a second trailer later this year.... I used this method because I don´t get any of those IMC trailers...... Nice progress on the IMC trailer...It´s a cool combo with the old pete in front of it. Keep up the good work. -
Hi there, Some years ago I bought this kit with a bunch of other kits.I picked the wheels out for another model some time ago.I never thought to built this one because it looked very ugly with those molded headlights.I thought about some changes.....and used some headlights from another 39 kit for it. Painted with sunburst orange and avorio senegal(spraycan/manufacturer FIAT) The wheels where taken from an 1:24 DieCast model. The LT5 engine got some wireing and I´ve done the same to the frame.I used some flocking on the interior. The wood is painted.I added some taillights from the partsbox.Except the wheeels and the headlights the model is built ooB. Please tell me what you think about it. Thanks for looking,

Corvair Wheelstander for the Birmingham Classic

Hi there, Taht´s really an impressive looking frame and detailing on it. Great work. -
Hi there, I started this one last year with a try of a two tone paintjob but made something wrong. So I stripped off the paint and did it again with only one color.Silver Pearl from a spraycan from Nissan. It looked okay for me but I have had ohter things to built so I put it to the shelf. Last weekend,it got his way back to my workbench and I thought about a second color for the car.So I tried to paint the upper half of the body with an red pearl with a thin line under the red.And it worked nice. Two coats of clear over the red and silver. The wheels came from Pegasus or Hoppin Hydros,I dont know exactly. So tell me what you think of it,please. Cheers,Chris

Hi there, I´ve started a little custom project last year.I used an old build 55 Chevy Cameo and the rearend of an 1998 Corvette. The frame for the Chevy came from the Revell Dodge Sidewinder showtruck, the wheels came from Aoshima. The engine I use was taken from the Corvette. I put some paint on the Chevy last weekend. The lighter tone came from Mercedes Benz called Champagnergold metallic, the darker color came from Opel called Apache Metallic. Both came from spray cans.I added two coats of clear. Now I have top polish the body. The frame, grill and headlights will get the same darker color.I´ll add some BMF to the trimlines. After that I have to finish the interior and the engine. After the paint is done there isn´t so much work to do to the car. Here are the pictures: please tell me what you think about the color combo.Thx for looking, Cheers,Chris

Hi there, inspired from my other old Ford heavy duty truck I started to build one of those old COE trucks.I used Revell´s 56 Ford F-100 model for the base, cutted away the fenders, made some cutting to the cab to match the fenders and started to scratchbuild the hood.I want to built those wide fenders and the steps etc.I want to scratch the frame for that truck and a lot of things more. Here is on first picture. Thx for looking and please tell me what you think about. Cheers,Chris

Twist67 replied to Twist67's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Hi there, thanks for the compliments.I´ve made some little progress on this one.Made a little bit of sanding and filling to the front end and also placed the stake bed of the AMT Ford C-Model stake truck to it.I´ll rework the wood on the bed with real wood. Cheers,Chris -
Hi there, thanks for the nice compliments.I made some little progress on the 32.I made some more sheetglueing and filling and sanding for the rear fenders.I cutted some openings for the taillights and the license plate.Still some work to do but it´s going it´s way. Here are some pictures how it looks actually. Thx for looking and please tell me what you think about. Cheers,Chris

Hi there, I´ve just started a another new project. It´s the conversion of an AMT ´53 Ford F-100 pickup into an Big Job F-800 truck.I´ll use the truck for my Twist´s Salvage diorama.I used the Ford F-100 Flipfront pickup for the cab, hood and fenders etc. ,the frame from an Ford Louisville shorthauler and the wheels from an Ford C-600 Stakebed truck.I shortened the whellbase to 195 inch and widened the front fenders on each side for about 0,3 inch with styrene sheet.I lowered the step and widened it to match the front fenders.I´ve done the same on the front bumper. It´s still a lot of sanding filling and glueing to that conversion.I´m still thinking about a correct engine to it. The engine I want to use for the truck was originally called Cargo King,it was na 317-cubic-inch V 8 engine.Maybe I could use the pickup engine or can someone give me an advice which engine I could use or convert into the needed one?Okay, enough words, let me see what you think about my start. I have to add some sheet to the hood and the fenders and have to smooth all the parts for a nice look. Thx for looking,

Hi there, so here is my newest WIP project which I´ve started last week. It´s the Revell 32 Ford 3 Window.I added another engine from the parts box also the wheels.I set the cab over the frame...don´t know the exact word to that.I satred to change the backside of the ford with sheet.Still a lot of work to do do smooth all the edges etc. Here are some first pictures: Please tell me what you think.... Thx for looking,

Hi, Barbo I often take a look to the techniques they used on military models....or also on railroad models...you can try those things in larger scale, too.Sometimes it works and sometimes not......but it´s always woth a try
-
Hi there, thanks for the nice words. @Barbo,no I don´t build military dioramas. @Jairus,sorry,no engine it´s gone out of the car some time ago to redo it.....the whole car will be restored some day....

Hi, today I want to show you one of my Diorama´s I built about two years ago.The cars I used are an Revell 1967 Charger,an AMT Chevy Nova and an AMT Mercury Cougar. The fence is made from Balsawood. The grass and other parts are taken from railroadmodelling.I made a oilcolor washing on the cars and used some pastelchalk.A little bit drybrushing and a lot of phantasie, lol. Here you can find more pictures http://www.themodelfactory.de/Dioramen/dio.../carsnbarns.htm
