Hey Greg, as discussed it would be fantastic if the proper tire could be sourced for this kit. It may have been different around the rest of the country but here the Ford Police Package cars were delivered in the following progression: 197?-1983 Goodyear Blue Streak Radial 197?-1983 Goodyear Blue Streak Radial HR or KR-70-15 or P225/235-70R15 1984-1988 Goodyear Eagle GT P225-70R15 1988-1994 Goodyear Eagle GT +4 P225-70R15 1994-1997 Goodyear Eagle RS-A P225-70R15 1998-2007. Goodyear Eagle RS-A P235-70R16 Either of the above highlighted would work for the 1991 Ford Crown Victoria, The 88-89 CV's were seen with the primarily with the earlier 84-88 prior GT's. In searching for pics of tread patterns or examples it came up that Fireball ModelWorks markets the Eagle GT in the P235/60R15 size. The Blackwall side would be the applicable view on this kit. It looks quite nice and would easily serve on this model if the size proves out in display on built-up model. If memory serves there was a company that sold (SATCO?) back in the late 80's early 90's a version of the Eagle GT tire for models. I think I bought a set and the tread was deep and sharp but they were sized for the Firebird and Camaro models of the day (215) and so were just too small on a full size model sedan. Shame. Still no one has done the GT+4 yet an that would be a nice option to have as well. EEagle GT EAGLE GT +4 Eagle GT +4 -

After the 1991 CVPI is in production and available, this one and the 73 Chevy Bel Air are next on the list to be copied. So, all goes well the LeMans should be available by march or April, perhaps. Tag the thread, and thanks again for the good comments on the work so far. Have a great weekend! D- 115 replies

It's all right! Sorry I didn't get your reference. I saw The original Robocop movies in the theater (dating myself) but all I remember is that Peter Weller played the character. And I am amazed as time goes on how much he looks like a skeletal version of the Robocop. Kinda chilling..- 115 replies

Which of course was the objective! Oh, and making sure the engine had a good source of fresh clean air too, I suppose. In my earliest driving days, my aunt had a 75 Buick Regal 4dr (one of the group of four GM A-body cars and mechanically just the same) but it only had a 350 2bbl. But that car would just flat TEAR the tires off!! You had to be careful leaving after a red light if you did it using a bit too much pedal they'd break loose and bark. Of course my teenage self LOVED that car! I can only imagine how it might have been with a by God 455 in it. Ahh the days of the big block. I was at a car show looking into the engine bay of a 88 CV police car that had a 351 Windsor when I overheard a guy impressing his girlfriend with his automotive knowledge. "That's a BIG BLOCK" he said. A 351 Windsor. I almost cried for various reasons. Anyway, I've owned two Police LeMans Enforcers, one 4dr and one 2dr. The 4dr had the 455 and the 2dr had the 400. Also had about four LeMans Can-Ams. here is a pic of my 2dr Enforcer going away, and the best one of the four C/Ams I had.- 115 replies

1976 Chevy Caprice 4-door Hardtop Sport Sedan conversion

Gotta say it's one of the most realistic looking depictions of body damage in scale form I've ever seen. It's TOUGH to get styrene to look that way! Again, great job! And thanks for the comments on mine.. D -
Ron H: You hit that one on the head. All you need are some steelies and dog dish caps, and we will be watching a TV show of the 70's. Thank you, Sir. I do intend to either find or make the proper DD's for it. I thought I had a source for them from a fellow modeler but that.. fell through. Always fun to free-hand lathe something on the 'ol Dremel. Tom Geiger: Dwayne my friend! You are killing me! I love 4 door conversions and would kill for a 71 Belair 4 door sedan like my father once drove! Thanks, Tom. Like you I have always wanted the four doors. Funny, the styrene folks seem to mostly only offer the middle digit where those are concerned. Or, they finally have a 96 Ford Crown Vic come out by Lindbergh and many years later Revell decides to do one and .. does the same BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH exact one. Come ON! An unfunny twisted joke. But as I may have mentioned my goal is to do each year's full-size Chevy offering from 70-78. I already have a 70, 72, 74, 75 and 76 in possession to do those years. The 77 & 78 will be a ground up scratcher. Huh, the 71 is the only one I don't have! Have to keep my eyes peeled for one on the Bay, tho. ChrisBcritter: Great work, Dwayne - must have been a real bear to get that roof and rear window correct, but you've nailed it. Chris, you said it. Getting that whole angle/treatment of the area from the C pillar to the transition to the rear window valance and trunk lid was a MAJOR PITA. For me anyway. That's where 70 images from every conceivable angle comes in handy! Paul Hettick: Wow that's great! Please cast 'em up! Thank you, Paul, and yes I hope we can. After the 91 CV is done, and the 77 LeMans, this would be next. Still, I don't want to kill off Greg W, but all these years working on 1-5 different masters at different times is finally about to bear fruit with at least three coming out hopefully this year. Got to lean in on the 1972 Polara too. It's in the pipe as well. Many thanks to all. I even got an attaboy from the UK, from Anglia 105E! Thank you, Sir.

1976 Chevy Caprice 4-door Hardtop Sport Sedan conversion
DEL replied to Cosmo_Song's topic in Model Cars
Good work on the conversion and the body damage is VERY realistic. Take that model, set it in a diorama setting with some real vegetation in the distant background and you could fool someone into thinking it was a real car in a real place. Did you mess up the styrene fender & hood or did you tap out a new steel hood then twist it up? I've seen that done before. Good work! Dwayne -
Thank you Jack. I'll get back there. Just may take a bit, since where I live they have to pump oxygen in much less internet! Hope you are well..

Attached are a few pics of a project I've worked on for a couple of years and am now nearing completion. I like 4drs. Mostly so I can build my police car models but also because they are just so very rare in offerings from the styrene tyrants. This was a bit of a rough one. I used a promo for the base and unbeknownst to me, these promos are evidently injected in some kind of ABS or something NOT styrene. SO, you can't just work with grafting on styrene to build what you want. It all has to have styrene superglued to it as a base to work off of. Still, it is finally about done. I modified the tub, modded the rear bumper to create the four tailight base version over the six one on the Caprice. Another scrap grill donated the "Chevrolet" script for the header panel and I added the Bal Air's Chevy Bow Tie to the center of the grill. Make some door mirrors and find some button caps and it's done. Thanks for looking..

Excellent work. Super realistic interior detail as well. Love it!

The "Hero" car from the movie with Stiller & Wilson resides about 7 miles from me. Guy I know bought it from Movie Mike about four years ago, the guy who built all the cars for the movie. THAT car has some kind of internally modified 351W with a Holley 4bbl. Looks tiny in that engine bay. I would have personally preferred a 460 police version of a 2 door Gran Torino but those are rare as, well, RARE. He also has about three or four other Starskys. Way big into them. Has a couple videos of his car(s) on YT under Torinoman. Good luck on the build! Looks great so far..

Thanks 72! I really appreciate it! I've had a couple of calicos over the years, but this particular one of the feline queens at my place is named Kylie. Cats are a trip. Like I said, I had dogs mostly and they're great. But the cats I've had over the years do things sometimes that just make me bust out laughing. They're thinkers and plotters. I think they'll inherit the earth eventually. Sometimes they're a bit aggravating, but I love 'em just the same. Looks like your two have created the dreaded 'cuddle-puddle'. Usually, in a place you need to use. Hope it wasn't your chair. You know you've had 'em too long when you hate to wake them up or move them. Kylie is the smallest cat I've ever had. Full grown she is tiny and barely 5-6 pounds. But she is TOUGH. Thanks for those pics. I had heard of the station master. And an Alaska town that had one as it's mayor! -

Cute alert! At first anyway. This Kitten was born the month I started this project. She is now an almost geriatric 9 year old cat with neurological problems. Poor thing. But she would crawl right up in the middle of my work back then when I used to work sitting cross-legged on the floor till I built a workbench for models. In the first pic you can see the model building materials in the background. The last one is Last October, 8 years later. Still a small cat. BTW: I was a dog guy all my life till I was 45 or so and my second wife introduced me to my first cat. I didn't hate 'em. I like all animals. Just never had any. She failed to inform me though that they need A) Fixin. B). Cat boxes. And C) something else to scratch besides my easy chair. Just sayin'. -

OMG!! Dude, you CUT MY CAR!! Just Kidding. After a great phone call with Mike S. a couple nights ago I could tell it would be in good hands with Mike as well as Greg. Thanks again for the positive comments From all. And a big thank you to everyone who has followed this thread since I started it almost two years ago.( I'm SORRY. As I said, I am SLOOOWWW) And since it's been a long time since I started this thread. (Yes. I always knew you believed in me, Alberto. It was my comfort those long dark nights a-modelin'. ) But much as it was desired 'out there', I too have wanted to finish it and put one on the shelf all these years myself. Talk about your delayed gratification! It looks PERFECT with the dog dishes, that's what I always intended to go with this model. The 88-89 Version should have the button caps though, like the ones on the 70 Galaxie 500. Hopefully, they can be added as part of the choice of the 88-89 or 90-91 version Just as both dashes and the steering wheels & columns are an option. I think I still have one of those HH 70 G 500's if needed for the caps. Also for accuracy, those building the 88-89 version would need to remove the "C" pillar trim line that runs from the rear door to the bottom corner of the rear window. That's the main differences in the two versions. Oh, and orange for the front turn signals on the 88-89, clear for 90-91. And that's it. Looking back through my pic file on this project I see I started it in September of 2009. Like I told Mike & Greg, at first it started out as a winter project the first few years. And in truth I didn't work on it about two years or so somewhere in the middle, but I've almost hammered it every modeling session these last 2-3 years. I can only hope those that end up being 1:1 with it find it worthy of their display shelf. I can only say I did my best. I swear it. By the old gods and th.. Nevermind. So, to the time frame, thought I'd post a few pics of the beginning grind from back in the winter of 09. Like MAD magazine said once on modeling: you only have to cut away everything that DOESN'T look like your project. Best description of scratchbuildingI I ever heard! -

Talked to Greg last night and as 'promised' the 91 will go out Monday or Tuesday to him for sure. As I told him and mentioned before I couldn't let it go with the bare bones detail of the door panels. So as promised here are a few pics for comparison. Thought I took more of the whole finished tub but what I have are just the two front ones to show. Still, they show a marked difference I think. The first pic is old panels, second is the two font ones just laid out prior to installing. Thanks again to all for the patience shown, and the encouragement. It means more than you know. Dwayne -

Thanks to all for the good words and the 'wish lists" I've spoken to Greg, I know he is anxious to start the molding process (me too) and I, as I told him, am really done with this one finally. It will go out to him by first of the next week. I mean that this time. I was looking it over closely over the holidays to see if anything else needed addressing before it's gone 'for good' as it were. I did find one thing I felt I really had to neaten up. The interior tub. I had built a very rudimentary tub to get me by during the build process but now that the body is done, all trim in place and the two dash's & steering wheels n columns complete, I felt the door panel details left MUCH to be desired. SO - since this car was begun as a representation of the 88-91 body style with particular emphasis on the 90-91 version that is the door panel detail I have built into this tub. Each door has its own armrest and window switch n door lock control plate and they had to be carved from styrene stock. Each one took me around 4-5 hours to make. 6 - 7 with the rest of the panel, trim and the little stereo speakers down low on the front driver & pass doors. (pics to follow tomorrow) Right now I hope to offer the car with a choice of the 88-89 dash, wheel & steering column, or the 90-91 version of the same. For now I only made the one tub and as said it's the 90-91 version but a 88-89 version will be along shortly. Those familiar with CV's know it has a somewhat different door panel treatment. And yes there is a plan to make the three or four other variants of this body style that began in 1979 - 1987 in short order now that the basic body has been done. On to Greg by Monday! -

Once again, thanks to all.. And to Paul, yes, I have every intention of this becoming my second offering after the 1991 CVPI I have posted over on the Resin board. Greg Wann is going to be doing the 91, and after that, I will decide how to go. BTW: this model goes together almost as a snap kit. once the bumpers slide into slots they are locked in place by the chassis/frame pan. No glue needed. Like the promos of the 75 Olds, there will be two small recessed screws at the rear that hold it all together. So little or NO use of special glues or superglues to assemble it. Happy holidays to all! D.- 115 replies
