  1. Got the interior tub completed.. i finished off the details on the dash, BMF'd the steering wheel and detailed it.
  2. Thanks guys! All i got left is the steering coloum and wheel and the interior tub is done... i'm pretty happy with how the interior turned out. I got the speedo and tach in the wrong spot.. I'm not gonna bother changing it tho. I'll end up ruining the decals removing it.
  3. Yeah i wanna do a 68 next! these models are very well put together and detailed... the only two problems i noticed so far.. the centre console locates where the front seats go and in that position its WAY to far back, it makes the front seats almost touch the back. To move the seats ahead i had to trim the seat bottoms for the hump on the floor, so the seats never sat on an angle. the interior lights need to be moved ahead as well, if you move the seats up. The other issue was the rear axle not centred to the wheel well. Console is all done.. BMF for the trim, wood grain done in tamiya nato brown and painted to give it a wood grain texture. the sides are flocked as well
  4. Started working on the interior.
  5. Thanks! i will sand it off and repaint the tank.. I guess it kinda looks out of place now that you mentioned it. I got the front suspension painted and detailed with steel and gold leaf to look like gold galvanized. Shocks are also done, but i can't assemble any of this until the car is almost built, so i'll be able to install the steering box.
  6. I got the rear end and exhaust all painted and installed. I lightly weathered the chassis, blackwashed the frame holes (thanks for the tip!) and i alclad chromed the diff cover.
  7. I also picked up some strip styrene for rocker panel moldings.. I'll cut them like the original and BMF them and glue them on. Here are couple better pics of the real car.
  8. Thanks! I'm happy with how its turning out as well... it's starting to look like its from the 70's now! . The only part that bothers me on the body is that small mold line on the bottom of the vinyl roof. It's actually not really noticeable in person, but my camera picks it up really good! I might go back and fix it later on, i was worried about sanding it off, since the vinyl roof texture was molded in.
  9. The model comes with redline and white wall waterslide decals, just be sure to have some decal setting solution, because once you slide them on the tire there not round anymore and you have to work with them to centre and straighten them.. they were a little tricky to get on there. I'm going to use those wheels on my next 69 GTX project.
  10. Awesome! I've already got the alclad polished aluminium paint waiting! I never knew you were on this forum, haha. Thanks for the tip, i'll do that! after the chassis is finished i want to weather it a little bit. I picked up a Dukes Of Hazard rosco's police car model kit today, and the rims and tires were perfect for what i wanted! (the rim in the pic is a front one, i just used it for mockup, the rear ones are identical in width tho) since these tires are a little smaller in diameter then what i planned on using before, i jacked the back end up a bit... as close as what the real car looks like in the pics. I also narrowed the rear axle a bit to tuck the tires in because they were sticking out a bit. these rims and tires are almost a perfect match, i'm going to alclad chrome them.
  11. Thanks! I'll start mocking it up tomorrow, i've glued the diff to the springs and the shocks as well, so it will hold it at stock ride height.. i made the shackles tall enough to just stick past the lower quarter at eye level and the springs will be level from diff to the shackle (no backwards arch) any tips on taking the arch out or the springs? will hot water work best?
  12. Here's the rear stripe trimmed around the trunk seam to add more realism (PITA to do!) and i blackwashed the seam as well... again sorry for the crappy pics
  13. Thanks for the tips! i couldn't find any grandt fasteners at the hobby shop so i took Barts's advice on the hex styrene, thanks! Here's a pic of one of the shackle extensions... i have to sand it a bit and then then straighten out the back part of the leaf springs to reach it's new position on the shackle. I don't want it sitting jacked up high (it's not in the pics very much either) the tires i'm using it will give it a slight rake as it is. Sorry for the crappy pic, my camera sucks under florescent lights.
  14. Thanks for all the compliments! Here's the slot rims i got coming for the front, and here is a picture of one of the rear spring shackle extensions i built, since you can see them hanging down in the back of the car, on some of the pics i got... i'll probably redo them in a slightly narrower material, so it looks more in scale. this one was more of a test one. any ideas on something to simulate a bolt for the rear shackles?
  15. Thanks for the compliments! i ordered some resin slot mags for the front of the model as well as a yellow prewired distributor for it (to look like accel wires) I'm just going to wire it, flock it and add seat belts for the extra details
  16. Thanks! I decided to change the build a little bit... i got a pic of the car from the mid/late 70's. i'm gonna built it like the pic, I've already got the rear steel rims and driving lights from my stash of parts. I just have to round up some slot rims for the front and make some shackles to jack the rear leaf springs up like in the pic. Here's the rear stripe put on... once it dries i'll blackwash the truck seam.
  17. Thanks! This model actually has the vinyl top already, so it was already textured! I hate doing BMF! haha. I use detail masters paper (3200,3600,4000,6000,8000,12000 grit) and its practically polished after 12000grit. I then take some meguires cut polish to bring out the shine, then wax (not waxed yet) Just be sure to clear your model if its metallic/pearl colour, or it will wreck the paint when you go to wetsand it. pastel colours don't need clear to wetsand/polish.
  18. There's no clear coat on the motor, i use duplicator engine enamel and it doesn't seem to have a fading problem.. what are you using? Thanks! I got the BMF done.. next step is blackwashing the body seams.
  19. Thanks, I tried something new and used testers one coat lacquer on this model.. didn't like how it sprayed, so i don't plan on using it again.. they have cheap nozzles and it sprays out like rock guard compared to tamiya paints. I was to lazy to spray it with the airbrush. Heres the body wet sanded and polished in testers root beer, which looks close enough to the original metallic brown (colour is a lot lighter in person, my camera sucks) Headliner in antique white (didn't want to use pure white on the interior) and the headliner in tamiya semi-gloss airbrushed on. still have to wax, BMF it and add the decals, probably start on it later on today.
  20. I got the body and chassis painted.. here's what i got done to the chassis so far, tomorrow i'll wetsand and polish the body and paint the vinyl top and then the fun task of BMF.
  21. Started working on a Revell '69 Dodge Charger R/T. Its going to be a stock build... Metallic brown, black vinyl top, white interior and a white stripe just like one of my Dads friends car he bought new. Got the Motor assembled and painted hemi orange. The wheels are also detailed and finished.
  22. Thanks for the compliments! The seat belt photo etched parts are made by model car garage.
  23. Thanks for the compliment! wow that's an old reissue! yeah its a neat kit.. i'll take a pic of it with the top down later, it works awesome.
  24. Thanks! this seems like a awesome forum! Its been around since 1968? it sure looks like it was! yeah the wheels were junk, three of the wheels didn't have the lug nuts moulded into them! i just stripped them and painted them in alclad polished aluminum. the tires seem to big too... oh well. yeah it was a multi piece.. pretty tricky making everything work! this one looks to be from 1959.. it wasn't as bad as the shelby, but lack a lot of detail too. the Nova is an awesome kit! no complaints on that one at all. I'm not sure what the paint was... it was some old base coat i had laying around. it was dupont base coat clear coat.
  25. the drag-u-la car wasn't too bad to build.. if you want it to look realistic you'll have to strip a lot of chrome and paint it polished brass (alclad paint) same goes with the munsters coach which i still have to finish! i'll have to double check who makes the seatbelt parts... the material is 1/8" ribbon from walmart.. it comes in a big roll for about $1 Thanks for the compliment! Thanks!
