My bench is in the corner of my shed. I built it at such a height that I can work standing without bending when my back is playing up or sit on a bar stool when its not. Its about 1200mm (48") high and being this height gives me more space under it to hide store part of the stash. Enough space in fact to fit a standard height bathroom vanity (salvage when I renovated the en-suite) with room to stack kits between its top and the underside of the bench.

Plenty of trucks with big inline engines. I thought about cutting one down into something that looked like a 1.5/1 scale Deuce Roadster but I don't have any truck kits and they are a bit pricey for me to buy to cut up. Re Wankel engines. If they were classed as "in-line" then using the same argument so would turbines and i'd be entering a Batmobile.

Thought it was odd but I can't remember last week let alone 2009. Turbolene was a scam!?! Well I never.

Standard Royale powerplant is a 12.7 Litre straight eight. Obviously that will need to be boosted. I am pondering whether to use turbochargers or superchargers or both. zenrat industries is investigating the production of a DOHC cylinder head, independent suspension and 4 wheel drive.

That all seems so long ago. Thanks for posting all that Mike.

Bugatti Royale.

I see Randy sells Clearly Scale stuff. I forgot to mention it but the manual transmission I put in the orange Caprice is a Clearly Scale T56 from one of their Supercharged Hemi kits.

Well done Bruce. A worthy winner.

Thanks for the compliments Jant. My head is now swelled up and I can't get out of the room as the doorways are too narrow. Nothing wrong with voting for yourself, after all politicians do it all the time (although that is hardly a recommendation). I just can't bring myself to do it and find it interesting that some people do.

I do like the little man button. It's interesting to see who voted for their own model.

Who came up with the 1:20 scale kits and why?!
zenrat replied to peteski's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Mike. I had always wondered. I had a whole heap of the soft plastic 1/32 Airfix soldiers which for a number of years fought out almost daily battles on the playroom floor. Green Team (Aussies, Brits and US Marines) vs Blue/Grey/Yellow Team (Wehrmacht, Russian and Africa Korp). Support by Britains diecast artillery (54mm scale* i believe), diecast armour (Dinky amongst others 1/32?) and my pride and joy, an Airfix 1/32 Stalwart (prebuilt - not a kit. Unboxed and beaten up so worth nothing today but I wish I still had it). * Another can of worms - Wargame scales. And lets not mention HO/OO railway and the different N gauges... -

Why 1/35 for military models but 1/32 for aircraft? -
A single row aircraft radial engine is simply an inline engine with the line bent into a circle. It is therefore allowed. https://blog.caranddriver.com/how-to-get-a-24-hours-of-lemons-budget-exemption-stuff-a-radial-aircraft-engine-in-a-toyota-mr2/

Thanks Mike. We'll see eh.

AMT 70 Dodge Super Bee Pro Street Chassis. Ross Gibson Sonny's Mountain Thunder 762ci engine. Revell '69 Chevrolet Nova Cowl Induction scoop. Painted with Vallejo German Orange acrylic. Decals from my big decal folder. The vague plan was that it was an eighties Pro Street car which had been freshened up with a new motor. If I had to drive from sea to shining sea then I can't think of a better way to do it than in a big comfortable car with a huge donk. Pro Lux 1 by Fred Maillardet, on Flickr

To me this means that when viewed from above the crankshafts of all the engines must be in a straight line. So you could have a twin engined mini but the engines would have to be side by side and it would be rather wide. Jant will clarify when he next checks in.
-
I thought about a Twini but the engines are not in line.
-
Some more ideas have occurred to me. Heller 1/24 Blower Bently with scratchbuilt independent suspension, 4wd and at least two turbos. MPC '75 Dart on the AMT '71 Duster chassis with a slant six. Two inline engines with the driver between them. One driving the front wheels and one the rear. Four wheel steering.

That looks decidedly evil Bruce. And very low. Did no-one inform you about the speed humps immediately after the starting line? Hope you don't get hung up. So, one week to go. I might finish with a few hours to spare. It's all glued together into one large piece now with just a few minor detailing parts to attach and a lick of paint here and there... ...and then I decided at the last minute to build an exhaust system instead of running with open headers. Nothing fancy, just large bore straight through pipes dumping ahead of the rear wheels but they'll need a few days for the glue to dry and then be painted.

Your favourite Box art

Thought I recognised it. I've seen that trick done on a Hot Rod. They are the perfect shape for a fuel tank.

Good. I talk out of my ar5e most of the time. Nothing I say should ever be taken seriously.
