Well I finished the dash. I now have one piece that has color on it, WOO HOO! Here is the final color, which is purple, and the digital datalogger gauge panel I put on it. I hope it look somewhat accurate and people can tell what it is, not some design or something in the middle of the dash. Sorry it is so blurry.

Thank you

Here are some pics of the dash. I cut out the center of it with the radio and gauge cluster. I replaced it with a smooth piece of plastic and I will mount the digital datalogger gauge in the center. You can also see where I finished converting it to right hand drive. I will post pics of that tomorrow when it's done and maybe the whole unit together. :D

Thanks Jimmy, and yes I know why. I have been staying pretty busy on it and made some really solid progress. I finished modifying the dash last night and I am trying to finish making the digital datalogger display that will sit on the dash for the gauges. I hope it comes looking like something close. I also finished the front brakes and installed them and finished the last of the chassis. All that is left is finish some more on the engine and it can be mated to the chassis. The only other major hurdle I have to tackle is making the floor for the rest of the body. Once that is done it is time to start laying paint and final assembly.

Well my GF has been wanting me to build a purple car for some time. So I got a really nice Tamiya purple I think I will use on this.

Possibly lavender or some kind of purple. I will know when I see it. It will need to go with the big anime decal that will cover the trunk, the sponsor decals on the cowl and doors, the big graphic that will run down both sides and the carbon fiber that will be on the doors and wings.

Yeah, that sounds like him.

Thank you, I love the idea too. It is weird to get inspired for a model from a song, LOL. I am just wondering what people will say once it really starts coming together and they see what it will finally look like. Will the people that like it now still like it. As for Jimmy, it could be. I think he is here, but I am not sure what his ID name is. He really likes to make detailed engines from scratch. His work is excellent and I have bought several copies of his stuff. I will use one of his motors whenever I get the chance.

Nah, it is going to be built without a hood. Well the real life motor is not that big. Plus, it is good to keep the weight down in a drifter for better balance.

Yes I do. That is my feelings exactly. That truck idea kicks ass. You will have to share some pictures.

On some minis I have done in the past I just modify the frames like I would if it was a real truck. -
Well once one of the members of the club I belong to did a seminar and I picked up a few things. I also talked to several guys that did it all the time and got what some of the basic techniques are. Basically all I did was use a dremel on slow on the inside of the body till you start to get thin and burn through. Then take a sharp xacto knife and break it up and make it jagged. Next i got a box of earth tones chalk from Hobby Lobby, gound them down to powders and put them in little containers. Then I just covered the hole and what spots I wanted to look rusty with flat clear and took a dry brush and dabbed on the powder and blew off the excess. Some places I just dry brushed on the powder as hard as I could and didn't blow it off. On the bus on the top the old electrical tape is blue painters tape cut in thin strips and painted silver. The plumbers foil tape on the window is chrome foil also cut in small strips.

Yeah, a few years back I built a tuner hot rod. It was a chopped and channel 29 Ford truck on a modern frame with independent suspension front and rear and a supercharged Acura Integra motor in it.

Sure, thank you.

Thanks, I love lowered minis as well. I plan on building alot more. This is pretty much straight out of the box. The only thing I changed was the seats. There are about 3 or 4 versions of this model and they will all lay on the ground. -
A fresh update. The chassis is almost done, just have to finish the front brakes and I can mate the motor and driveshaft to it. The interior tub came together alot faster than I thought. A few more tweeks and it's done.

Here is my Texas State Cooper Trooper

LOL, that is kinda the point. Looks like a hot rod, but it's heart is Japanese.

It is Tamiya spray can color. I think it is something like bright green. -
The rear end and and whole chassis are from the Ford custom Phateon kit.
