  4. the gallery on this site reminds me of the Car Model Magazine covers of the early 60s - the digest form before it went "big". thanks for the link j
  5. it's hard to sell something like that and even get your time out of it. nice cases for your collection and hopefully you'll keep them maybe to pass on to your son.

nice; any chance of sticking a 'swamp cooler' in that passenger window?
  20. anyone have the url of some model low rider websites? "Livin' the Low Life" (Speed Channel) with Vida Guerra is a pretty good show if you can catch it. she's not that hard on the eyes, either!
  21. but seriously, Kevin. if i may call you "Kevin". these 2 (you Know the other one) threads reminds me of a story ..... " once upon a time there was a Bull and a Calf (little bull? bullette?) anyway, sitting on top of a hill watching a whole herd of Cows graze in the pasture below. being healthy and young, the Calf says: 'let's run right down there and make love to one o' them Cows!' to which the old Bull responds: 'let's walk down, and make love to them ALL.'" well, you may wonder why i bring up this rather obtuse reference. or not. but i'll share with you this: i don't think anyone will put you down unless you allow them. standing up for yourself is an admirable quality and will take you far in life. but, and we have all experienced the effervescence of youth, it is in your delivery that i believe is causing folks to take umbrage. we're all on this forum because of a common interest. give people a break and they'll most likely reciprocate. if someone finds something negative to say about your model, take it from where it comes. it could even be a valid criticism but if it is delivered harshly you may not be receptive to the words. think about it. and don't go drinking with any Marines. that's not necessarily positive role modeling.
  22. let's just hope there are no essay questions . . . (i really feel cheap, now!)
  23. coming on the heels of the "my eyesight is going and my hands hurt" thread, i have to say that Dave Shuklis stands out as a very inspirational modeler from my early days. i remember the first few issues of Car Modeler Magazine - in digest size - that showcased a number of his works. there was one issue which described how to make operating windows using a piece of coping saw blade as the rack of the rack & pinion mechanism and another showing how to make an operating convertible top on an AMT '49 Ford using brass strips & rivets too small. more about him here: http://www.themodelcarmuseum.org/Models/Shuklis/shuklis.html and everyone mentioned above certainly has added something to the hobby. j
  24. ha ha - pretty good one on us! but seriously .... anyone cutting the lowrider out of their automobile experience may change their mind after watching 'Livin' the Low Life' on the Speed channel hosted by Vida Guerra. she'll definitely get your standards back in order!
