  1. ha ha - pretty good one on us! but seriously .... anyone cutting the lowrider out of their automobile experience may change their mind after watching 'Livin' the Low Life' on the Speed channel hosted by Vida Guerra. she'll definitely get your standards back in order!
  2. bump up the scale! sure the final product takes up more space, but every component on an 1/8 scale model can be as simple or elaborate as you choose. i've done this with my model railroading; gone from HO - 1/87 scale to O - 1/48 scale. now i'm thinking of 1/35-1/32 scale because there's a ton of military models i'd like to "civilianize". whatever you do, thanks for the positive and reinforcing message. i'm sure many of us are in this hobby for life!
  3. i think Tamiya has a block on their instruction sheet with a form to send in if there is a part damaged during construction. this may only be valid for Japan addresses, but it might be worth a shot.
  4. has there been any update on the condition of Bob Paeth? i did a search but March 8th was the last i could find. it was a positive update posted by Jan Paeth. i was hoping Bob's getting back at the workbench.
  5. for what it's worth .... if you quit something in life because of someone else's opinion, you're gonna miss out on a lot of good stuff.
  6. thanks; i'm gonna run with this!
  7. if the radiator sits lower than the stock upper radiator hose (block inlet), how can the cooling system be plumbed? is it okay just to route the upper hose wherever it needs to go, clearing belts, et cetera, on its way? thnks, j

  9. cycle fenders up front rule!
  10. i am eagerly waiting on each installment of this build; great detail.
  11. how do you "master" a body? do you have to scratchbuild one and then make a female mold? just the short version, please. i don't want to take you away from actually building. thanks, j
  12. you're going to have an 8 hour birthday party with 10 year olds? keep the asprin handy and Good Luck!
  13. maybe a little off topic ... but what's with the dehydrators??? i thought at first they were rice cookers until someone mentioned he had one, also. rice cooker i could understand, but a dehydrator? i'm not getting it ...
  14. thanks for the "brief" description. i have a pretty good idea now. there is a fantastic article in SAE february 92 pp 55-57 "Unfinished T" by Kirk Bell. the builder, Steve Catron, carved & vacuum formed a '27 Ford Roadster in 1/25th scale.
  15. sounds safer than my anacin bottles filled with match heads. or the green soldiers all set up and then squirted lighter fluid all around and torched the battlefield. now those suckers would make some smoke!
  16. nice; and timely for me. any chance of a picture from the underside at the rear of the front x showing how you did the spring? thanx
  17. i think creative people can be difficult in that their energies are differently distributed. maybe DaVinci was a real pill? we all have our quirks and who can say how well any of us could handle the pressures which come with great success? i think the important thing, and sad thing, is that the automotive community lost a creative force.
  18. best of luck getting through this, Bob. we still need your experience so don't even think of leaving us in a lurch! prayers are with you, too. jeff
  19. tastefully understated; great job!
  20. mebee i axed the question wrong; to wit: i want a vacuumed formed bellypan for a speedster A or T. so it shouldn't be a solid chunk, but rather the flimsy, hard to deal with, styrene we came to love in out Mattel vac-u-forms so long ago. also entertain the possibility of making a belly tanker since the kit i ordered has been out of stock for about 2 years. a "bomb" i can whittle, i just need someone to make a shell over it.
  21. is there a vacuum or pressure molding service for 1 off projects? i make the master mold & send it to the manufacturer to be popped out in small runs ( 2-5 each piece) for a fee. i don't see needing to fabricate the equipment to do this for a few parts and then have to store the stuff for the rest of my life.... thanx
  22. maybe a straight six?
  23. i wonder if they could be made out of brass photo etch....
  24. anyone know why this site hasn't been updated for awhile? http://www.themodelcarmuseum.org/What_s__N...hat_s__new.html
