  1. Money may not buy happiness, but it sure makes being unhappy more comfortable.
  2. You sound like a pretty good dad to me, trying to teach the kid about saving money for stuff he wants, and taking personal responsibility for fixing stuff he buggers, and generously helping him to achieve his goals. But a few good teeth-kickings from the real world teach a human which side the bread is buttered on and who his friends really are and what matters and what's just shiny useless fluff...maybe...eventually. Sadly, I know people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s who are every bit as clueless, as well as being physically and fiscally helpless, and gullible...easy prey for any smooth talker who comes a-knockin' on the door or calls 'em on the phone or puts up "health" content on YT just to hawk do-nothing supplements and snake oil. How some of these folks survived to adulthood, much less "senior" status is quite beyond my comprehension. Oh wait...it's just because there aren't any predatory beasts these days to eat the terminally stupid and willfully ignorant, and more's the pity.
  3. Kits for DIY brain surgery might solve a lot of problems in the long run.
  4. No disagreement there. My "boomer" generation bears a lot of the responsibility for the dogawful mess the world is in today. I can't really elaborate for possibly running afoul of the board restrictions on "political" speech, but in general, we had it pretty easy compared to previous generations, and a lot of us failed to learn much of what we should have learned and passed on to our offspring...and likewise their offspring learned even less about reality, values, responsibility, and behaving like adults.
  5. Sunshine ain't the same as moonshine.
  6. "Goes to jello in a handbasket" is what happens to a place when most people look the other way, pretend nothing's wrong, and just try to keep their heads down.
  7. Real sorry to hear that, Carl. Hoping it gets better for you.
  8. Ad-nauseam means "puke-inducing repetition".
  9. Easier to start from scratch to build that. Nothing there is Mustang or Ford GT.
  10. Fishing for compliments and praise is a large part of what the web is used for.
  11. Fabricated or manipulated evidence is known as "lies".
  12. Treatment for numerous maladies that have been repeatedly PROVEN to be effective, safe, and cheap, are STILL denied by the medical establishment, mainstream media, and social platforms in spite of easily verifiable evidence.
  13. Summer nights can be difficult to sleep in without AC if you don't devise alternative strategies to deal with the heat, which I have.
  14. And I'm continually amazed most people seem to think there's a higher percentage of doctors who actually have a clue than mechanics who have a clue. Just because you have a shiny degree or two hanging on the wall, that's no guarantee you really have talent and skill. Doing the course-work and fulfilling the other requirements gets you a degree and a license, but it doesn't make you "good". And if you don't believe that, just look at some of the horror stories about bodged high-end plastic surgery.
  15. Cares and worries and jerks don't have to ruin your day, because contrary to much popular opinion, humans can control their emotions.
  16. Program changes to electronic engine and/or powertrain management systems sometimes require a laptop interfaced through a very specific app.
  17. Soggy rhymes with foggy which makes me think of London which reminds me of...oh, never mind.
  18. Period hot-rods and racing cars from the '40s through the '70s float my boat.
  19. Cast your fate to the wind...
  20. Taiwan makes a lot of stuff, some of it really good, some not so hot.
  21. Models of the female variety can sometimes have "difficult" personalities based on a lifetime of getting their own way because of their looks, and some can be sweet, virtuous, kind, and caring; it's always best to judge individuals on their own merits.
  22. Fertilizer should only be applied by highly trained professionals, because it's just like rocket-science, and way beyond the ken of regular civilians.
  23. "Regurgitates opinions and remarks of others without conscious thought" is the definition of "rebleats" in Bill's Abridged Dictionary.
