  1. Michael, I'm just starting the build, so it's early days yet. I'll probably be using at least some of the decals. Don't think I'll be using the clear valve cover, but remind me in a week or so, if by then, I'm not using it, you're welcome to it. Send me a PM in a week or so.
  2. Good work.....I like the gauge detail
  3. Very nicely detailed, very clean build, good job, look forward to seeing more.
  4. My modest little 'empire'
  5. Started by basically gluing the parts together that will be painted as a sub assembly, engines halves, transmission halves, seats etc. There was a fair amount of flash on the parts to clean off, but few deep ejector pin marks. Parts will need small amount of filler on joints. The front face of the engine is 'stepped' when glued together...this is intentional...the timing case has a corresponding 'step'. See piston detail as well, will be hidden when valve covers are in place. Note molded casting numbers on the block halves.....not strictly to scale....but I'll leave them alone...they'll all but be hidden by the headers. Note engine molded 'cast' finish. Progress to date, thanks for viewing. Haven't decided on engine color yet, will not be Hemi Orange, as I'm going for the '70s street freak look, will likely be red. More soon
  6. OK, I'm excited to have made a start on this new project this evening. This is a recently re-issued kit....box art looks identical to original. The underside of the box includes an image of all the trees and parts, handy for checking for missing parts. Cylinder heads have molded hemispherical pistons in various stroke locations to simulate positions on crankshaft Detailed dash with raised gauge detail Two trees of chrome parts.....too much chrome for me, a lot of this will get refinished i 'Rubber' meats, fuel hoses and plug leads, red tail lights, glass and gauge lenses, and transparent valve cover - won't be using that Decal sheet Hood, firewall and front and rear valances......I'm not a kit historian, but the tree includes the raised ERTL company letters Here is a link to the instructions http://www.round2models.com/files/instructions/mpc768.pdf All trees were checked to ensure I had all the parts, washed in mild detergent, rinsed, dried and re-bagged, ready to begin
  7. I like it, that wing hieght looks cut downa bit, nice build, I like the window tint effect.
  8. Dad's car sure had some nice friends, how did mom feel about this?
  9. Why? I'd sure like to see your work.
  10. Will do, thanks Michael. I'm going for the 70's street freak look, so I'm not concerned about tucking the rear wheels, but thanks for the other heads up.
  11. Yeah Mike, I know what you mean, but multiply your workload by four and you start to question your own sanity......
  12. I have tried to combine my modeling efforts with introducing the kids to the hobby. Never really worked, I got nothing productive done. So in the past I have tried not to work on my project, when I was working with the kids. Also from a sefety perspective I want to keep a good eye on what they are doing.
  13. I'm about half way through this build. I like your primer approach, I was leaning towards black.......
  14. Thanks for the great welcome guys, I think I'm gonna really enjoy being a member of this forum. I'm starting a new build tonight....so I think I'm starting to get my enthusiasm back.....thanks in part to you guys and this forum.
  15. Thanks guys
  16. I am planning on getting started tonight
  17. Another waste of time….that I know I’m guilty of is the TV. Now I don’t watch much TV, about 4-5 hours a week. That’s the time I have, to watch what I want, in peace. I have a DVR set to record a bunch of car shows. So what happens when the wife takes all the kids out, on those rare occasions, is I slump in the sofa and watch a program. I gotta cut that back and use some of that time to work on a model car.
  18. I love the stance......
  19. Stewart is right, this kit was reissued at the beginning of this year, pick one up for about $35, an original will set you back over $100, if you can find one
  20. My number one aim will be to finish the kit (within a reasonable time, say two months), basically stock build, '80's street machine, jacked rear end, black pint, will do some additional wiring, basically relive my youth, I first build this kit when I was about 18, never finished it.......I chopped the roof.
  21. Sweet...looking good, nice fan and belt detail
  22. Some of you guys have got some awesome set ups.......
  23. Yes, I don't think that there's any alternative to going nocturnal. As long as they're awake, they're are distraction.....in the nicest possible way (of course)
  24. I think this is going to be my next project..........haven't totally decided yet.
