Managed to play with this between other house projects, just using the old Testors Metalisers for the colours, and just making it look neat as there are floor panels that will hide all of this except for looking through the sides. Just decided to use some CF decal for the front splitter, just to break up the black paint. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

Here is a blast from the past... I had painted this quite awhile ago and then was not happy with the TS13 i used as my 2K had gone off, but when i sprayed the #25 Bud car i had this one rubbed back and waiting for a shine which it got. Decals are Hobby Design and go down well and have a nice sheen to them. I did this quickly while i was meant to be working in the garden, the rain came down so i cam inside....thing is the sun came out and i wasn't done, but anyway i got a start... It is a shame to do too much in the way of details as this is all covered up by plates for the floorpan. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

Very nice work, these are not usually an easy build and i have heard the decals can be difficult. Looks great.

Very clean Clay, a great looking sheet and excellent work as usual.

It was given to me by a friend in the States many years ago, exceptionally hard to find now.

The lines and fittings are Pro Tech and nice and easy to work with....I just used Tamiya clear blue & red to bring some colour into them. Thanks guys for the wonderful comments.

Well it took some time to get this one done and in the end there are plenty of corners being cut and the finish is not what i originally had in my mind. But it is done and i just Mike Madlinger was able to see it... Paint is Tamiya TS8 with 2K clear over it, decals are Racescale and then there are the details that have been added along the way. Finally i can call this one completed, it is the TWR Jaguar XJR-8 which i picked up for a very reasonable price many years ago. The decals were discoloured and a little brittle, even the tyre decals had issues and i unfortunately have a couple missing from the rear tyres. So with the decal issues i decided to go with a pre-season test version, now i know Tom may never have allowed this to happen with his high standards and all, but this is model building and i will use poetic licence on this one. The cars shape is sensational and i feel the black highlights its curves very well, but to not make it look too Gothic, i went with painting the rear wing in the lovely Tamiya Lavender and doing the wing end plates and mirrors white. I have added some extra details like seat belts and flocking the seat, a braided line for the radiator and some wiring in the cockpit area, and i finished it off with some aluminum tubing for the exhaust outlets. The kit is quite nice and very simple, one i would like to have again or maybe go for the Tamiya XJR-9 seeing this has full engine detail, and yes i would dearly love to do it in the true Silk Cut colours. But this is my first completed build for 2017 so nice to get one down....how many more for the year......well lets not get too excited.
