  1. Alright, I just wanted to make sure before I bought anything.
  2. Are the rear fenders in that kit seperate from the bed sides? If they are all you have to do is add some plastic strip to the inside egde of the fender where it meets the bed side and sand it to match the curve of the fender.
  3. I know what the different levels mean, I want to know if there are two different Lumina kits with different parts counts.
  4. Something I noticed in more ebay searching was that the early Lumina kits like the Earnhardt 90 and 91 kits and all of the Days of Thunder kits were marked as 2s. There was an update to the Lumina kit in 92 or 93 and after that all of the kits were marked as 3s.
  5. I thought about that thread too.
  6. This Beretta was disallowed from Cup competition after being cleared for ARCA. http://www.stockcarracing.com/thehistoryof/32356_chevy_beretta/index.html

    75 Cutlass

I would skip trying to use the Grand National as a donor, it's 1/24 and most likely too big to fit inside this body. I would use the new Revell 72 Cutlass kit. It it what was actually in the car for real and is the same scale, you can pick one up at Micheals or Hobby Lobby for around $12-$15 with a 40% off coupon.
  8. I had one of the Night Rider kits, it wasn't bad for a snap kit. The hood opened and it has some basic engine detail. I wish I hadn't messed it up but I was young and dumb. I have never seen the other two, I've been looking for a fleetside for a long time. Here is an 80-86 long bed I made from a Quadzilla kit, two Monogram Broncos, and the inside of the bed from the 91 F-250.
  9. Gotta love those Fauxrrari wheels.
  10. In browsing ebay for cheap kits I've noticed that some Monogram kits are labeled skill 2 while others are labeled skill 3 even when they are the same kind of car. I would really prefer a 3 if I can get them. Are the kits really diferent or did they just change the way they labeled them? Check out the links below. http://www.ebay.com/itm/DALE-EARNHARDT-GM-GOODWRENCH-LUMINA-1-24-MONOGRAM-1991-MODEL-NIB-/160821941321?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2571bc1449 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Factory-Sealed-Monogram-Darrell-Waltrip-Western-Auto-Chevy-Lumina-Model-Car-Kit-/370618771370?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item564a99a7aa
  11. The prototype for NASCAR was stretched ten inches and widened eight inches. The front kind of looks like a Grand Prix, when I get a Grand Prix kit in my hands I will see how much it needs to be changed to make it reasonably close. I was hoping it was in resin so I could just pay for it.
  12. You can still PM him and ask about whether it has an engine at all before you buy one, also check out the link I posted above.
  13. Someone is trying to trade a 1/24 Huey in the swap section, maybe you can pm him and see if the kit has an engine. The T-53 from the Huey has been the primary source of the jet turbine engines used in jet vehicles. Ma's Resin also makes a Turbonique style rear axle jet turbine that was used in drag racing in the late sixties and early seventies. http://public.fotki.com/cnaind/1500hp-turboaxle-kit/
  14. In my current state of ADD NASCAR has again come to the forefront of my interest. It doen't help that stock car kits are very cheap right now. I've begun collecting cars from my early experiences with racing and some of the first kits I ever built, the early eighties to early nineties are my primary focus. In doing research about when the Lumina first replaced the Monte Carlo I found a few articles about the Beretta that was run in some of the lower series but wasn't cleared for the Cup series. That thing is BAD, does anyone make a resin body for it? http://www.stockcarracing.com/thehistoryof/32356_chevy_beretta/index.html
  15. Maybe with all the new forums being added we can get an off topie ie. nonmodel based forum for threads like this. That way general can be for general modeling stuff and the other can be for all of the rest of the stuff in the world.
  16. I use wire coat hangers for full size bodies, I bend the long bottom rod into a horse shoe shape that fits inside the body with enough tension to hold it but not enough to distort it badly. For smaller bodies I usually just glue it to a piece of long sprue in a place that won't be seen.
  17. That Revell kit has a four speed, I think every modern tooling Revell kit with a BBC has a four speed.
  18. I'm glad I'm not alone. Another issue is that I can buy kits way faster than I can build them. Since I moved in February I have finished two models and I swear I've bought 40. I'm sick, I can't help myself.
  19. The Impala has a four speed, the newer 57 Vette with the drag stars has a big block with an auto as does the 70 Monte Carlo SS454.
  20. Yeah, concert tickets have gotten outrageous. I spent $150 on Tool tickets two years ago, that is the most I've spent so far. One fortunate thing is that one of Crystals favorite bands Blue October always does a $25 general admission ticket, we've seen them at least three times and aren't broke yet.
  21. I took mine from the cover of a book about size acceptance, it's also a subtle nod to my favorite area of study, a big round woman.
  22. I have modelers ADD, I can never stay focused on a project from start to finish. It isn't that the subject isn't interesting to me anymore but when I see someone build something really cool or even run accross something while doing other research sometimes it consumes me. I have a basement room full of partially built kits that one day I swear I'll get back to, and I do, but I never seem to take them to completion because something new comes by and draws me away. I could probably have a third of my stash built if I could stay working on the same kits for any length of time. How do you handle the temptation to stray to other builds, do we need a support group?
  23. I have a giant tub full of Hotwheels and Matchbox cars. I'm not buying them as an investment so I open all of them right away. I especially like the newer Hotwheels that look like real cars, I was never a big fan of all the crazy things they did in the past. I also have all of the Hotwheels Monster Jam trucks up until a few years ago when they made the wheels too big and out of scale. I also am re-collecting all of the Matchbox monster trucks I had when I was a kid, I probably have 75% of the Super Chargers and Mud Slingers that were released. I also get Matchbox semi trucks when I can, I loved them as a kid and wanted to be a truck driver because fo them. I have a problem.
  24. Cool, I was wondering how you were going to small them wheel wells up. You have now completely distracted me from my rat rod build and all I want to do is pull out my monster truck projects and join the party.
