  1. Hi gang, I have this model kit but I want to make it just like my real car. I know the kit is a 82 firebird. Mine is a 91. Is there anyone that makes the ground effects & the nose for a 91 firebird? Also my car has the 20 slot rims & I know those will be impossible to find. I was told that the ground effects could be made from styrene but the 91 nose would be a challenge. Any ideas would be greatly helpful. Thanks.
  2. After going thru all the pages of the build, I must say that is one sweet lookin General Lee. Very nice detail. Thanks for sharing.
  3. That is one very nice Camaro. I have the same kit but its black & orange. Very nicely done.
  4. I will be doing the Mustang in black metallic with flat black stripes. I decided to try to do the ghost stripes & that was what I will attempt. Just gotta get all the colors together & go from there.
  5. I meant to say that my airbrush will be used for the 1/24 scale models. I agree with you that with bigger models rattle cans work better. I picked up a can of black metallic with the ghost stripes in flat black. Just gotta figure out how to do the stripes. I will look for that easyoff. Thanks for the info.
  6. Lookin good so far. How did you de chrome the wheels? I havent started on mine yet. Maybe once I get used to my airbrush then I will get started on it.
  7. Wow I feel dumb.. I paid full price. I forgot about the coupon from hobby lobby. Oh well too late now. Now I just gotta figure out how Im going to build it.
  8. Has anyone thought about doing a police version an elanor version or the so called new knight rider version with this kit? Something different would be nice. Im not sure how I will build mine.
  9. I have a Testors airbrush & its nothing but a pain. Ive cleaned it several times in enamel thinner & it still dont work. I know its a starter airbrush but I was hoping to get some practice with it. Looks like I should give it back to who I got it from? Im planning on getting a new airbrush. Im also thinking about going back to rattle cans.
  10. I just bought this kit today. Ive been looking at it for a couple months. It was time for it to come home with me. I will be painting it Grabber blue. Looks like a very nice kit. I will have to try the marker on the windows as I cant paint straight. I also have the 2010 hotwheels of this 12th scale model. I look forward to building it. Those are some very sharp pics of that model. Very nicely done & detailed. Thumbs up on that kit.
  11. Mike, That mustang looks sharp. Nice job.
  12. I was happy with the lines just not when I tried to paint the scoop. I think my masking was alittle too close so I touched it up with brush paint. I ended up stripping the hood down & starting over. As of now, its still in primer. I usually use rattle cans myself but would like to get used to an airbrush.
  13. There's alot I still have to get. I did try the liquid mask on the hood & it peeled off fine. Had to put on 3 layers but other than that it turned out good. Im thinking the tape will be better since I dont have to wait for tape to dry. I appreciate all the info. Going to a friends house later to learn how to use my airbrush. hope it goes well as Im nervous & hate bad paint jobs.
  14. I have another question... I need to cover the hood to paint the scoop. Can I use the liquid mask or should I use tape? If I use tape, what kind do I use? The hood is still in primer. Main color is silver. Just dont want to peel off the paint if I use tape.
  15. Hi, Yes I have done the lighter coats & it turned out much better. I used a tack cloth before I primered the hood. Still havent painted the actual color. So far no more dust but I will check before I paint the next color. Thank you for the help.
  16. I dont touch it after I paint it. I also leave the basement for awhile. Looks like I will have to wet sand it down. What grit of sandpaper do I use? Im just trying to get this right. The body turned out fine but the hood is giving me issues.
  17. Hi gang, I am painting a hood. I use Tamiyas primer. I wash the hood let it air dry. Unfortunately I have to paint in the basement which is always cool. I use the tack cloth but always get dust particles in the paint. I have redone the hood twice now. Its still in primer but has dust in the paint. Any ideas what to do? This is getting annoying. I use rattle can until I get what I need for my airbrush.
  18. Hey everyone, Im from the Caledonia area. Been building models since I was 5. Man I'm old. LOL!!!!
