  1. Hey gang, I have the mpc 82 Firebird 1/16th scale that I will turn into a KITT from Knight Rider. I have the resin parts for the conversion. I need to find some kind of material I can use for the scanner. Also, what could I use for the foglights? I haven't started this kit yet but hopefully in the next month or so. Thank you.
  2. I also have this kit. Im painting mine silver with a flat black hood. I like the way yours turned out. I also have the general lee & was going to use the motor from the street charger for the general lee. I wish the street charger had a regular hood. What color did you paint the chassis? Looks like aluminum or silver. Very nice build. That fiery orange is one of my favorite colors.
  3. I have this kit as well. I hope everyone who has this has both metal axles. I opened my kit & only got 1 axle. Good thing I have some spare axles laying around. I haven't had a chance to start building but it is painted an Icy Blue with White interior.
  4. Hi everyone, I have the 1/16th General Lee & I want to find a 1970 grille for it. Does anyone make them or know where I can get one? I want to build this kit as a 1970 instead of a 69. Please let me know. Thank you. Kirt
  5. I have the 87 GTA in 1/16th but I need to find a replacement body. The body it came with is badly wrapped. I doubt that one will get built. This is the one with opening hood, doors, & I think the hatch. I may have to break out my 82 made by MPC & look it over.
  6. Very nicely built Camaro. How difficult was it to cut the roof?
  7. I built the 82 firebird & it went together ok. I cut the roof for the T-tops & the t-top brace was alittle tricky. I do agree with Scale Master about the body being alittle flimsy due to the opening doors. Its not a bad kit as long as your careful & patient. I have another 82 still new in the box that has to be done. I want to build it as a Knight Rider but I cant find the Knight Rider parts that I need. Just take it step by step & you should have a nice model. Goodluck with the build.
  8. Ive been building models since I was 5 yrs old. Now Im 43 & hardly building much. In all my yrs building, Im very impressed with the detail you guys put in these models. That General Lee is one AWESOME piece of work. Out standing job on the build. That looks amazing. Keep up the great work.
  9. I have the Foose Camaro. Im just debating how I want to build it. Not sure I will use the Foose decals as I have other ideas on colors. Not much different than the old orange Camaro but it should be a nice build.
  10. Hey Brodie, looks like the Mustang is coming along nice. Cant wait to see it finished. Congrats on the Lil red express. Those are a nice kit. Ive had mine for about 5 yrs now. goodluck with your builds.
  11. It wasnt either of them. It was the regular testors liquid glue. I went to the hobbyshop & bought some glue made for clear parts. Unfortunately this build didnt turn out the way I wanted. If it wasnt for the glue incident, it would've been perfect. I dont know if I will post pics of it as Im not happy with the way it turned out. Good thing I have another one to work on. P.S. Did you have any trouble with the headlight lense? They seem alittle wide on mine. not sure but I had to sand them down alittle bit to make them fit better.
  12. Well I ended up having to strip the paint & start over. I was trying to glue in a side window & got glue on the body. I tried to wipe it off but ended up making it worse. I had it just the way I wanted it until the incident. The body was very smooth. As of now I've repainted it black & havent added any clear coat. Its not as smooth as I want it but I will work on it. I cant tell you how many times I've wet sanded it. I've been using 1000 1500 & 2000 grit sandpaper. I did give it a couple coats of clear before the mishap. Once I figure out how to post pics, I will. I like the way this kit is going together. It almost falls together. Like it so much I went to Hobby Lobby & bought another one with a 40% off coupon. This new one will be alittle different from the black one. Well back to try to make the black one better. LOL!!!
  13. Very sharp & SHINY :) . I havent seen the new charger model yet. Hopefully find one soon. Nice color combo.
  14. That turned out very nice. The yellow does look good. I do agree, they should've included more stripe colors.
  15. Thanks guys. So is the ScratchX a polish? I have 1000 grit but will need to get 600 & 2000 tomorrow.
  16. Hey gang, I recently painted the 1/12 mustang using dupli-color paint & clear. Now I noticed the body has a slight rough feel to it. I think I sprayed on too much clear. I would wetsand with 1500 grit after each clearcoat. I think the body has about 7 coats of clear. The hood is very smooth as is the spoiler but has less coats of clear. Maybe 4 at the most. Anyway, how do I get rid of the rough feel on the body? Do i have to strip all the clear off & start over? I hope not but will if I need to. Is there a ploish or wax that would also make it smoother? Any help will be helpful. Thanks.
  17. Thats too bad what happened to the Monte. Hopefully you will have it looking better soon. Goodluck.
  18. Hey gang, I just painted a 1/12th Mustang. Its gloss black w/ flat black stripes. I used the Dupli-color Acrylic enamel spray paint in the rattle can. I did notice that it has a slight dull look to it. What should I use as a clear coat & how long should I wait before clearing it? This model was painted this past Sunday & yesturday. Unfortunately I have to paint in the basement with very little ventilation. Its all I have as far as where to paint. Also would I need to polish this or can I get away with just the clear coat? I can also feel the difference with the flat black stripes & the gloss black. I know I have to bring the stripes up level to the gloss black. Any info will be helpful. Thanks. Kirt
  19. Cobraman, Sorry to post on your thread about the mustang. I was wondering if you had any trouble putting the rims & tires together. I think its strange how they go together. I was told to start my own thread about my build but I was just asking a simple question.
  20. Has anyone done any work on the headliner? I was thinking about painting but I dont want to mask off the whole car. Has anyone tried the flocking? Need some help on what to do with the headliner. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
  21. Im just thinking the icy blue would go on better than the metallic black. Whatever color I go with, it will match the interior. Now I gotta think about what to do about the rims. If I should use easyoff on them & paint them magniesium or leave them chrome. Too many options. LOL!!!
  22. I will have to give that a try. There are some parts of the interior that are dark tan but the rest will be semi gloss black. Im kinda debating on the color of the body. I picked up some Testors Icy blue that I was gonna use on another model. Still not sure yet.
  23. I finally was able to get started on mine. I just painted the interior dark tan. The console dashboard steering wheel will all be flat black. How do I get the "Vinyl" look? Will hopefully get more painted tomorrow like the engine & chassis.
  24. I look forward to seeing the bumble bee. I like the idea that it will fit the amt 70 1/2 camaro chassis. Im actually building that 70 1/2 camaro right now.
