Sleeper Cannonball 2015 entry 1991 Mercury Cougar XR7 sleeper.
MLMDesign replied to MLMDesign's topic in Model Cars
Thanks michael. I cut the springs off the rear axle and cut it to the right length. The rear A arms fit right over the rear axle. The Mustang rear axle was very easy to put in. -

2015 Cannonball Run CBP -completed builds thread
MLMDesign replied to Jantrix's topic in Community Builds
This is my entry, it is a 1991 Mercury Cougar XR7. I used parts from a 2010 Shelby GT500 Mustang the engine is a 5.4 liter with 540HP. It has the Mustang rear axle, drive shaft and radiator. The air cleaner was modified to make it fit. -
Here is my Mercury Cougar XR7 GT500. I Had to make a last minute air cleaner and i added more hoses to it. See you all at the starting line and good luck to you all.

My is done i will post photos tomorrow.

Update for the Cougar i got the black on the windshield the rear windshield was fun to glue in i also got the interior built i cut the mustang driveshaft and made it longer to make it fit.
-
Update for the Cougar i painted the trim added some rust and took a flat tip screwdriver bit and scratched the clear coat where it wrinkled to try to make it look like the clear coat is flaking off i painted the interior and cut off the over hang on the windshield.
-
Thanks for the suggestion Rob. I forgot to mention the work i did to it was done a few months ago i have done more work to it since then i will post more pics. I think i have come up with a way to get rid of the wrinkles and i agree Rustoleum is garbage Duplicolor is definitely better paint my biggest complaint with Duplicolor is that they don't have a lot of colors to choose from. Testors has a better color choice but $5.00 to over $6.00 is to much for a 3oz can of paint.
-
At least it happened to build that i am going to make it look like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH
-
Update for the Cougar i got it sprayed and clear coated i used Rust-oleum red and clear the clear ended up wrinkling the paint did the same thing on the hood i also got the mustang differential in. And the engine is all most ready.
