She looks quite nice. Paint is great and the assembly is very clean and neat. Ona can't ask much more than that on something hand built.

Yep!! I built the Revell kit in all three color available for the car. Now, for the Deluxe version, I'll have to use the AMT kit, and I only have two unbuilt. I would love to, but can't find one locally. Thanks!! Thanks Carl!! Thanks Jim!!! Built one more or less like that, with Motor City Flathead engine hop up goodies, dual exhaust, and lowered suspension. It's the Maroon '40 on the left row.

If I had the cash, I would get a huge number of cars, most of them would be 1948 Fords and 1940 Fords. Like I already have the Galaxies I wanted, those flathead powered fat fendered cars are quite a dream (along a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Sedan in Inca Gold and Colonial White... And of course a bone stock, like new, 1932 Ford Model 18 Victoria...) Anyway, I would tend to have more base model 1940 Fords, as I think they look better than the Deluxe versions. And would daily drive a '40, restored to 100% stock, and probably in Cloudmist Gray. Such car is the one I built and show you guys. It's far from perfect as I built it in 5 days, as I was waiting for some paint for my Lindberg '53 Crestline Victoria. On the kits prices, you guys are in paradize and don't know it. $35 for a kit?? I'll buy 10 a week. I'm used to pay the equivalent of $55 for a kit, plus shipping. The Moebius kits are in the $74 range. One can of Tamiya spray paint can cost 15 Dollars here. ALL kits and supplyes are imported from The U.S., Germany, or Japan. ALL of those products (with the exception of Tamiya) are made in China, and see a double overseas shipping to get here. If I lived in the U.S., I'would have model kits galore. If Revell closes their office in the U.S., you guys will start seeing prices jumping sky high. If that happens, My fear is that Round2 will kick the prices up too (to keep things even ya know), and that will turn the company into a kamikaze. Now, if that doesn't happen, and Round2 keeps the current prices, modelers will actually buy more from them, and if they are smart, we can actually see that new toolings, and subjects (not to mention some jobs for the U.S. workers) comming from... Round2!! Imagine Round2 alone with affordable kits, with the sales lost by Revell, and with cash to spend on new stuff.

Thanks! It's the very very old MPC Dukes of Hazzard kit. It had the wrong rear window, so I thought it would be actually easier to build it like a Charger 500. By other hand I used the Dukes decals to build a General Lee out of a '62 Poncho.

Thanks guys!! I was quite happy I was able to save it without having to strip the body, or any other major surgery. I only built three Mopars, and would be sad to see this one ending on the bin.

Took this Charger along with some olther models to a reunion at our local hobby shop. After chatting, looking at the other guys's models, and a considerable amount of beer, I dropped the Dodge on the floor... It was carpet, so the major damage was the corner of the front right fender. Of course, all parts decided to fly appart... Glued everything back together, but had to repaint the front right fender. Gave the entire car a polish, and no evidence of the beer ding is visible, LOL!!!

Indeed. And almost all mirrors that were included eventually were generic, and not the ones correct for the cars. At least on lower priced Ford cars, ouside mirrors were optional in 1966. Full size cars like the Custom, Custom 500, Galaxie 500, Ranch Wagon, and even Country Squire wagons had to be ordered with mirrors if you wanted one. Only on the LTDs a outside mirror was standard equipment. You could go further on LTDs and ask for a remote control mirror, but that was extra... This model represents the Galaxie 500 7 Litre. Even tough it has many apointments of the more luxurious XL version, the mirrors were still optional.

She looks super fine to me!! Clean and crisp, as a teilored suit. You foiled the "A" pillars the corret way, what is more a exception than a rule when I see those cars built. The AMT kit represents a Galaxie 500 7 Litre. Standard engine for the 7 Litre is the 428 FE. The kit has a wrong air filter for a 7 Litre, and to build it more accuratelly one would have to source a correct piece. A very simmilar piece to the correct air filter can be found on the AMT 1932 Ford Victoria kit, on the optionsl SBF engine. Also the kit has the wrong steering wheel. The 7 litre uses the same steering wheel as the XL versions, and it's a three spoke wheel with faux wood grain. A goo source would be a Mustang kit. The AMT kit sists a little low on the back. I fix it rising the axle a bit. I also separate the axle from the exhaust. The body is very accurate to the real car, and that is a plus.

You are welcome!! My grandfather was born in Italy. Came to Brasil with 12 years old. learned Italian from him. He was a huge Chevrolet lover, and never likes Alfas, or Fiats, or Lancias, or Ferraris. He used to work on them, but said they were for the guys with little brain and big wallet. But my grandfather also hated Fords, so I never listened to his advice on cars LOL!!!! He used to say Ford stands for Fabricação Ordinária Reparação Diária. BUT his son, my Uncle used to kick his behind often on road races... With a '49 Ford V8 hahahahahaha.

Finished today the rebuild of the '48 Ford. The WIP thread is here: The car was just a body, with no interior, engine or chassis. I was able to save the glass that was painted black from the inside, even tough one of the windows had a little fogged spot Paint is automotive enamel, in my favorite color. Interior is from the stock version, just painted to look like something customized. The finished product looks like it could have being in the movie "The Car". She's pure evil... And is back from the dead!!!
