  1. This is one odd looking car. Saw one in real life, and thought it was a van that someone had cut. You did a very nice job, it looks straight out of a caribbean resort beach.
  2. I would pay wathever they ask if they have a model just like that of a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 Town Sedan.
  3. I hate painting modes white. Everything shows trough. If you have some louvers, it's a safe bet they will show the primer at the first rub down. I think I just have two white cars among all mine built kits. By the way, I had a fun couple of days about 20 years ago with a 2cv. Was hanging out with a friend who had (still has) a garage, and a tourist from Argentina arrived in one, that was making all sorts of odd noises. It sounded like the engine was about to fall of the car. After looking and looking, we finally found out it was the clutch that had a broken spring in the pressure plate. The owner was happy the engine was ok, but he had to order a new clutch from Argentina. The 2cv is not a rocket, imagine driving a car with a half a VW bug engine in the front. I can only imagine the trip from Argentina. More or less like doing it in a Model A Ford. Doable, but not if you are in a hurry. It's a cool car never the less.
  4. Always nice to see a proper looking 1932 Ford Model 18. Those cars are so gorgeous I always thought to be sacrilege changing them from stock.
  5. Well, the car in the book has four doors. Also a shift lever, and one four barrel carburetor. Also, on the book, there is no mention to any modification, like headers, or other non stock components. Arnie, says the goal was to restore the car to the way it was when LeBay had her. In other way, factory stock, looking and running like new. On the book, dennis has a Duster, and not a mighty Cherger as on the movie. Things are different on the movie.
  6. Great paintjob. Knowing the kit, I know how hard it was to fit those wheels. I see you have a hood fitting problem, and the fix is easy. The hinges are your problem. They have a step, that has to fit inside the firewall, so the rear of the hood goes down all the way.
  7. Great job!!! For sure the rust is very real. It could pass for a 1:1 quite easily. I did something simmilar on a '57 fairlane, but mine had being just saved from the crusher, and brought back to life, but leaving the body, and interior weathered.
  8. Loved it!!! Nothing short of a masterpiece.
  9. That's just great. Nice color too.
  10. It looks amazing. Very nicelly done.
  11. The absolute very best: My '74 Galaxie. Put more than 200.000 kms on her since 2001 whan I bought her, and not once I was left down. When I bought the car from her first owner, she had 540.000 kms on the clock. The first owner was a Petrobras Engineer, and he used the Galaxie on the highway doing a once a month trip from ItajaĆ SC to Rio de Janeiro, RJ. That's a 1000 km trip. Plus the regular in town usage. I put the first 120.000 kms on the car still with the original engine. Finally, by the end of 2011 I had to rebuild the engine. It was low on power, and using a LOT of oil. Once opened, it was all standard. FoMoCo on the back of the bearings. FoMoCo pistons... Rebuilt the engine and did some upgrades, like booring the block 0,030 over, using a mild Iskenderian E-4 cam, some big valve heads from a '57 Thunderbird, and a four barrel FoMoCo intake manifold. The stock two barrel was replaced with a 1965 vintage Autolite 4100 carburetor, with 1.12 venturies. Clevite pistons, Clevite bearings, on the stock cranck machined to 0,025. Sealed power rings, and Chloeys timing gears and chain. Second best: My 1991 Avto VAZ-2104. Most reliable and bullet proof car I ever drove. Used her daily for a very long time. Sold in 2000 as I was almost unable to find a new headlight to replace one that was smashed by a rock. The importer just quit providing parts. Today it's still the car I regreat the most having sold.
  12. Thanks Carl and Bruce!!
  13. Thanks guys!!
  14. Thanks Glen!!
  15. Thanks Dave!!!
  16. I knew you were going to find out!!! Very cool episode indeed.
  17. Thanks!! Yes, the steering wheel was black. Dash, and steering column were dark brown. Quite a contrast with the Deluxe models wit their two tone dash and steering wheel to match.
  18. I'm not much of a fan of opening features that can't be closed. I would have to scratchbuild a hinge to allow the vent to open and close, and I'm not much into scratchbuilding things. I try to build mostly box stock. The base model Ford had black wheels. You could get color matching wheels on the base model, it was a extra cost option. The base model had only one taillight, but again, paying extra, you could have the second one. The base model was cheaper and had simpler finish, like a single tone dash, with less trim, and a front end that was almost the same as in 1939, but could have almost all of the Deluxe accessories if desired, even the leather upholstery. Not to mention the dealer accessories, that were made to fit the base moodel V8 and the Deuxe V8 alike.
  19. Cool!!! So we are both working on a Skymist gray Standard. Since I have a Black and a Lyon Blue '40, I'm only missing the Skymist Gray to have all the three colors available for the Standard. Got the Colorgin primer and the Lazzuril automotive enamel? If so, it will be easy to get a nice even pintjob. Sure you can PM me. When painting the Whitewall inserts on the tires black, be sure to use an acrylic paint.
  20. Tamiya TS-15 Blue over the kit's blue plastic.
  21. One color that gets the closest from Tamiya is the TS-15 Blue. Using a dark base will help. I have actual Washington Blue mixed, and the Tamiya color while not an exact match, will give you excelent finish, without the need to airbrush.
  22. WOW!!! Super well done, and hiper clean build!!! Awesome color choices. I have to build one of those.
  23. I have always wondered why nobody does a 1958 Ford like on the first picture. AMT had one, but I suspect the molds are missing or damaged. Now, Revell could do a '58 using a lot of tooling from their '57.
