  1. Can't get to the pictures. The link doesn't work!!!
  2. Thanks for the comments guys. I went with the 8' 6" spread on this one, and I've decided to go with the super singles. I've got the air bags mounted correctly with the axles and air tanks in place. Tonight I'll get the landing gear finished up. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...de/MVC-015F.jpg
  3. Here's my next venture. I want to take this curtainside trailer and put it behind my Pete daycab. The colors are going to match the tractor. It's going to have a Red frame and Red framework for the curtains. I'm not really sure if I want Black curtains or White. Any suggestions are welcome. I didn't get a picture of the frame before I cut the airbags and hangers off, but you can tell by the boxart where there mounted. It was a forward mounted tri axle. I'm making it a spread axle. I have a help question as well. The trailer is a scale 44ft and change (hoping I measured right!). What distance between the spread should I have? 10' 2" or 8' 6". I was leaning towards 8' 6" myself. If it was 48ft or more I was thinking 10' 2". I'm going with the super single tires on this. I was toying around with the idea of duals, but the framework is to wide for this. It's set up for the singles. The wheels where molded in Gray, so I shot them with Duplicolor Chrome. I used it on my cattle trailer and like the results so tried it on the wheels. I'm sticking with it. I'm going to try and get everything up underneath it today , tonight. Thanks for looking. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...de/MVC-009F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...de/MVC-010F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...de/MVC-013F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...de/MVC-014F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...de/MVC-012F.jpg
  4. Ray, I've been messing around with the idea of making a set of doubles that you see running around in the west as well. I have 2 of the old CF doubles and was thinking of doing something with them. I was going to see if there was enough material in the sides of the trailers to make a set of bottom dumps out of them. I still have the Freightliner single drive to go with it as well. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro..._photos/003.jpg Something like this only with the old freightliner COE tricked out a little with twin straight pipes and twin breathers and maybe lowered a little bit. Can't wait to see what you come up with as well!
  5. Excellent work! The colors work well together. Thanks for letting us know what color you used on the interior. Looks good on it. Remember to get out and flip the 5th wheel down before you back under your trailer, there driver!!
  6. I finally finished my fuel tanks and mounted them. I reversed them around, because I didn't like the idea of the fuel caps being so close to the straight pipes. Don't need a fire at the fuel pumps! Actually, I had a brain fade and didn't realize I did it until I was snapping pics. I couldn't bring myself to snapping them off after the glue had dried to change them back. I thought I'd be better off leaving them alone! I finished up my work box on the back and finished my light bars for the rear. I have several little touch ups left and she'll be finished. I have to add the stack straps and touch up with BMF on the fuel tank steps, where the part was joined to the tree. Lost a little chrome there! Another fun build for me. Next on the bench is 2 trailers for my last 2 tractors that I have built. I have already started on the curtainside for this one. Then I have a Revell tanker to go behind my Revell Pete previous to this build. Comments welcome both good and bad. Thanks for looking! http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-001F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-002F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-005F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-006F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-007F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-008F-1.jpg
  7. I agree! Very, very cool idea. I enjoy your builds and have used your website and pics for reference material. I'm one of the biggest Pete fans there is! I like what you do with your builds when you put them in different scenarios such as the assembly line, the tire hauler, the outside factory shots, and the glider kit! Awesome work and attention to detail. You don't give tours of your build room do you ? And is there anything that you haven't built , but would like to try? Keep up the great work. Your an inspiration to fellow builders for sure!
  8. Diesel! Any updates on this thing yet???
  9. I would love to try and build an old needle nose Pete! Sometime when I have a little extra cash , I'll snag a rein cab and try it. If someone was to buy the resin cab of the needle nose, what truck kit do you use for it and exactly how hard is it to convert? Just asking, because I've never tried taking a project like that on and I'm a real fan of old school trucks!
  10. Yeah , I like that front axle as well. I would love if the all the trucks I built has stearable fronts. I know alot of the kits and older kits had none. Looking good so far Jim! Keep it up and keep the pics coming!!
  11. Awesome work!!! The paint is beautiful on that thing! The attention to detail and scratch building is top notch!! Makes me think of when I was a kid and something like this would be rolling down the street in a 4th of July parade, all shiny and spotless! Very nice job!!
  12. Excellent work!! Can't wait to see some pics of the cab sitting on the frame. Nice work on the dump body as well. What color you thinking for the cab and fenders anyways? Looking really good and keep the pics coming!!
  13. Casey, Awesome job so far. I really like the way your wheels came out. Nice touch. They'll look right at home on that bulldog. I like the color combo on the hood and cab as well. What color did you use on the interior? It looks just like that old green color the used to use on some of the old Macks and Brockways. I just forgot the name of it... I want to get my hands on a Brockway resin cab and do one of those sometime! Your Mack is looking real good so far! Keep it up, can't wait to see it done!
  14. Kurt, That thing is looking really good! Love the scratch building. As I have gotten back into the hobby and have seen alot of scratchbuilding going on, I have tried a few things myself and rather enjoy it. They only problem with that is, after I put one detail on and sit back and admire it, I say to myself, geeze, that would look good on it too, and next thing you know I'm crafting! It's never ending....:)With some of your scratch building on yours, it's really bringing it to life with details! Very nice work and 2 thumbs up!!
  15. Looking good Jim! I agree with the other guys. The engine detail is great. Can't wait to see the paint and decals on it. Let me know how those decals work, because I was going to order from JBot myself, but havevn't done so yet. I was hopeing to find someone who has used them to give me an idea of how they are as well. Keep up the good work!!
  16. I managed a little more work on her this weekend! All the exhaust work is complete. I run the air lines out the back of the frame for under the trailer coupling. I added deckplate from front to back. I've hung mudflaps off the battery boxes and off the front of the half fenders. I have the light bars for the back of the truck fabbed up, I just have to drill the holes for the lights and get them on. I took a headache rack of the Germany 259 and cut it down to make a 2 door tool box for the back. I'm going to add to the depth of it by adding some styrene and covering with chrome tape. This tractor is eventually going to hooked up to the Italieri Curtainside trailer, which I'm going to alter form a tri axle to a spead axle and put some american touches on it. The tanks have been puttied, primed and the first coat of Red. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-027F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-028F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-029F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro.../MVC-030F-1.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-031F.jpg
  17. I did a little more work on this this weekend. I changed things up abit. I went with the bumper that comes with the kit. I am going to save the Texas bumper for another truck. I also went ahead and took of the double headlights and put single ones on. I want to give it a different look. I went with the Germany 359 half fenders also. I painted the air breather Red with chrome straps. The lubrifiner I left Chrome with Red staps. I'm also using the Germany 359 fuel tanks which have already been stripped of the chrome and I'm in the process now of filling in the seams and primering. There going to be Red with aluminum straps. Thanks for looking! http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-030F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-029F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-027F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-026F.jpg
  18. Thanks guy's for the referances. I finally did find some pics this weekend. I just googled it and it found his own personal website. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...Little_Irvy.jpg
  19. Ok I'm reaching out to all the old time drivers here. I'm 44 years old now and I started riding around with my dad at the age of 3. I eventually drove truck myself for 23years. In those years of travel, I could of swore I saw pictures of a tractor trailer that had a glass trailer and it used to haul a whale around for exhibit. I only remember one magazine from back then and that was the old overdrive (back when it was good). My 2 friends and I were discussing trucks this evening and I brought that up to them and they looked like I out of my mind! Am I? Does anyone remember a truck like that?
  20. Tim: Very nice detail! I like the (weathering) look. Always like a story behind the truck as well. I think the glider kit was a cool idea also. Great idea using old stuff. 2 more aspects of trucking pulled off again!! Nice work!!!
  21. Greg: Thanks for the compliments. As far as the fenders go their aftermarket. The ones on the other Pete are Griffen resin fenders I think. I also have a friend who makes resin full fenders for 1/24 - 1/25 scale big trucks. There excellent as well. I made the ones on my Kenworth, but there just wrapped around aluminum. I'll be concentrating on the back of the cab these next few nights trying to get it ready for paint.
  22. I worked at a steady pace this weekend on this ride. I painted the the frame and the suspension Red. Painted the airbags Black and the shocks Yellow. The motors all finished up and glued in. I'm debating on whether or not to use the fenders that are mocked up in the picture. The only drawback on these snap kits are the tires, rims and how they go together. The outside tire wall doesn't like to grab the rim. I am thinking I might try (carefully) to run a smalll bead of glue along the rim edge and work the bead onto the glue. Unless some one else knows different, do tell. Hope you guys like what I've done so far. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-006F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-005F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-004F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-003F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-002F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-001F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...ab/MVC-013F.jpg
  23. Ok I'm finished. I added the air line box, airlines and light cord. I also added mudflaps off the back of the rear full fenders. Bunk work lights were also added. Rear light bar was finally added as well. The finishing touch was the Pete logo on the mudflaps. Now I'm off to work on my 359 daycab. This was a FUN kit to build!! http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...59/MVC-062F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...59/MVC-061F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...59/MVC-059F.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t121/ro...59/MVC-060F.jpg
  24. Good question! I'd like to know as well. I want to do a couple of my new trailers with that Red and White reflective tape but haven't seen to much of it around. I have seen one guy on eBAy selling it I think for around 10 bucks + s/h. If I find the auction, I'll post a pic.
  25. Jim, I am not going to shorten the frame at all. I am a long wheelbase kind of guy. I love the trucks with the stretched out frames!!!!! I will not be touching the frame at all. As for how I cut the sleeper away: I worked from the inside out on that. I took a scribing tool (dentist tool) and slowly scribed lines between the bunk and the cab. I slowly worked a deep enough line. then finished it with an exacto blade. I then ground down the edge that was left with my sanding tool on my drill press. I did the same thing when I cut back out of the old AMT truck. I've yet to decide what color I am going to paint it. I'm thinking White with a Red frame and Red fenders. Thanks for looking!!
