Scale I Build

  1. fizi

    cockpit

    From the album: Ferrari F189

  2. Just finished the Ferrari LaFerrari model kit made by Tamiya. I have pictures of the engine and assembly in the On The Workbench section at the link below.
  3. With parts drying on my FordGT ,I went back to work on the Fxx-k. The rear wheel wells have been added and sprayed with a flat coat. I put some extra decals on the outer edge of the wells because the back will be displayed open and it would show just a plan edge. Some wiring has been added and the lower tray has the heat shield on it. With the seats I wanted to try something different. The plain black carbon seat wasn't what I was looking for. I used plamoz velvet paper sticker. Super thin and has a good feel to it. The small seam will be covered by the belts. The seat were covered with carbon .
  4. I started this about two months ago but got sidetracked with travel and work.. The kit is the Tamiya kit with the Hobby Design trans kit and Studio 27 decals. I haven't decided on a color yet , it will not be red. This is my progress so far as I have a bigger project that I'm waiting to start after this.
  5. Hello! To anyone that is interested in the Centauria Laferrari build. I will be posting pictures of this build soon. I am receiving the parts and now I have parts from 1 to 28. The parcel arrived yesterday and I can't wait to get started.
  6. I finally got a chance to make some progress in finishing this kit. I feel like this kit hates me. I dropped it twice. Once off the paint stand breaking part off the front off. The second time I dropped it the air box hoop came off and I lost the down bars. I had to remake the bars. I think that I'm going to weather the car.
  7. Here are a few updated pictures of my progress . The color is Tamiya Italian red. Sprayed in two light coats with one heavy one. No gloss has been applied yet. I will give it a coat of Tamiya gloss just to even out the decals. The kit is a BBR and is all box stock.
  8. I've been in the 43rd kick. Had this in my stash . It's a BBR kit. They make great stuff and are easy to build if you ever wanted to do a 43rd kit.
  9. This was a really simple kit from Academy. It's not really detailed, but builds into a nice but basic model. No engine detail. It's not really finished, the lenses need to be added, but they are terrible, they look like goggles & distort the lights underneath, so I've going to do something with them later. For now, it's on display! There is a WIP post in the appropriate place if you're interested... Comments welcome.
  10. The Revell Ferrari California. Paint is Tamiya. Click HERE for a look at the build process... (2012)
  11. I finished this one a few weeks back and just wanted to show a few pictures. Here is a list of the stuff used 430 challenge kit Hobby Design detail set. Well worth the money. Scale Motorsports carbon decals Tamiya dtm kit tires for the slicks. Kit comes with street tires. Why? Don't know Tamiya paints.
  12. Fujimi Ferrari 348tb curbside kit. I recently found this kit, which I didn't remember starting years ago. Since the body was painted, all I had to do was detail the interior & body, and put it all together. Not perfect, but nice. (2010)
  13. Monogram Ferrari 512TR. This is a level 3 kit, and for good reason. The whole rear chassis has a lot of parts that need to fit correctly. I tried building a few different Testarossa kits year ago, and none had good side-strake detail. This is the only kit I have seen in person that pulls the whole thing off. Wheels and tires could be better, but this is an older kit, after all. Click HERE for a look at the build process... (2010)
  14. I'm back to work on trying to finish up my challenge car. The chassis is just about done ,only a few things to add to the motor. The decals are a bit on the thick side and need a BUNCH of decal set to get them to wrap around the nose. Hope too have this done by the weekend and on too something else.
  15. Just finished this Hasegawa Ferrari 328 GTB. Mostly OOB except for PE window wipers and some adhesive-backed felt to simulate the interior carpeting. Hope you enjoy!
  16. Just purchased this bad boy from eBay: I was feeling nostalgic over the kit that was gifted to me back when I was 13. My skills were very modest back then, but I remember that I was able to turn out a half decent build out of it. With that said, I wasn't able to find much reviews/feedback on this kit. Any one have any feedback to give while I wait for Canada Post to deliver my most recent purchase? Also, I noticed that the Tamiya version of the F50 is also 1:24 scale. Its been my impression that the Japanese manufactures tend to lean towards the 1:25 side. Are there any family ties or relationship between the Tamiya kits, Revell of Germany, and the old '95 Revell/Monogram? I would have preferred to build either the Tamiya or Revell of Germany versions, but the price kind of drove me to look for the "vintage" '95 issue. Look forward to your feedback!
  17. After my orange Enzo I'm back at it. I always liked these kits. Easy to build and with a bit extra they look quite well when done. I started on the interior a few days ago and here is the progress. The door panels have had the centers removed. The belts are Scale Motorsports. I'm using the Hobby Design detail set for this car. It has the "shark teeth design on the nose
  18. this is my third model, another ferrari... my previous model 458 can be seen in my posts, still learning, best kit fit wise i have done but still a few things to work on.. starting the Porsche 918 next week which most excited about as a model iv wanted to build this for a while
  19. Gt fan

    Ferrari enzo

I was able to finish it. Just in time for it to leave for a contest in the am. It's the usual Tamiya kit with Tamiya gold as a base. Met. Orange was sprayed over top with Testors wet look clear. The carbon decals are from Scale Motorsports. Heat shield foil is from MFH. Will post better pictures later. Thanks for looking.
  20. Well, it's finally done after sitting in the closet since around '99. I managed to get PE parts for it too as I was starting this discontinued kit. I got them in four days. Here it is with lots of pix. Thanks for looking.
  21. Just some update photos on my progress. Trying to finish this by Friday . Fingers crossed. I have not picked a wheel color yet. Maybe a grey color?
  22. With my McLaren gt3 done and a bunch of free time today I was able to start work on my Enzo again. A Tamiya kit with a Scale Motorsports carbon kit and detail kit. The color is Tamiya gold with met. Orange over top. The clear is Mr. Hobby. Super clear. The body panels are on just for the photo mock up.
  23. Well, I've had this kit since about '99. It was originally $25. So when I decided it was time to build it I researched the car on the net and came across the kit on Ebay for about $150. And I also came across a PE set for it. I sent away for the PE set and got it in four days. Amazing for a collector kit that's not in production any more. Thanks for looking. Here is the box art first: Here is a walk around the chassis with the engine and transaxle installed: Here's closer up on the engine. My ref photos had red plug wires with a white sleeve. I just dipped the wires in white paint:
  24. A few taken to experiment with a new photography set-up which I thought I'd share: bestest, M.
  25. ...got this one started now, as usual doing the body first so that it's got time to set hard before I polish it, though it doesn't look like this one will need much polishing. Zero Paints Blu Abu Dhabi with 2K Clear. As you can see, the Blu Abu Dhabi is a pretty dark and rather greeny blue, so I'm glad I invested in some -- it's not like any colour i have, and DOES in fact (Vaguely) resemble the colour that the online Ferrari configurator shows you. I suspect quite a few of the pictures on the web of "Blu Abu Dhabi" cars aren't -- or Ferrari have reformulated the colour. I got the original paint code from the Lechler site for Hiroboy to mix, so I'm confident that it's the correct colour. Though I say it myself it looks even better in the flesh -- a real Peacock blue. Beautiful -- even my wife loves it! Oddly, I do also have a red car on the bench at the moment as well, but it ain't a Ferrari -- or even Italian. This is the Moebius Chrysler 300, in Guards Red, which will get it's own build thread soon. ...bit of a traffic jam on the bench at the moment! It's that desire to get the bodies done so they can cure fully. The two Californias will be another "two-fer" build in a month or so. Guide to Ferrari Blues, Part One: L to R Blu Abu Dhabi, Blu Mirabeau (not yet clear-coated, so the colour will be richer when it is), and Blu Dino. bestest, M.
