  2. I recently followed a Jo-Han Mercury Comet on eBay ; and , I noticed that it was a 2-in-1 , which I've never seen before ! I'm aware of the Maverick 2-in-1 kit , but wasn't aware of its Mercury counterpart . Is this a rare kit ? Was it a mid-year tooling change ( think : MPC 1971 Duster and 1971 Demon 340 --- the latter being a c.Spring 1971 intro ) ? From the photos , I was able to ascertain : - Stock inline six engine / manual trans - Stock wheel covers - Moulded-in bench seat (front and rear ) - Plastic Good Year wrinkle-wall slicks - Cragar S/S wheels - BOSS 429 in Pro Stock livery - Chassis has moulded-on single exhaust Did anyone here win the bid ? I'd love to build a stock 1971 Mercury Comet !
  3. Hello. I have been searching the Internet in need of some advice for converting racing model kits into a stock version of the car, since some models come only as "rally" or "DTM" versions and I prefer much more the original one. In this case I have bought the 1/24 Tamiya Alfa Romeo 155 V6 Ti "Jagermeister", which has racing (wider) fenders and side skirts I need to get rid of. The interior comes with rollbar, a simple dashboard and the two bucket seats; I guess there will be quite a lot of work to do there, but not as much as the exterior. The idea is to make a slightly tuned berlina. As I said, I want to narrow the body's with, but do not know really how to in order to avoid ruining the model. I think I may have to cut them with a dremel or something similar, and fill the rest with styrene and putty. Has anyone got ideas for this?. Thank you. https://m.imgur.com/r/ModelCars/i7kJe
  4. I'm debating on weather or not re doing the rest of the chrome in Alclad. I have three different chromes (bare metal foil, kit chrome, and alclad) Used bare metal foil for the interior window trim, and the seat trim polished some aluminum tubing to make some snazzy exhaust tips The kit didn't have any mounting nubs for the heater hose on the intake, and the water pump, and I didn't realize that until after I got it together, so I drilled some holes in the H2O pump and the intake, and ran some D guitar string in the hose to keep it's shape, and to mount it to the engine.
  5. For Christmas I picked up a Monogram 1/12 scale '57 Chevy Bel Air. I had one when I was a kid, and did the strip version, and seeing that most of these are built like that I'd thought I would do mine bone stock. I'm doing it in Larkspur Blue, with an Ivory top, and blue interior. More pics to come
  6. Here is my 4th build of a 53 pickup. I really like this kit - not the flip version (even though I did build one), but the 3 in 1. I love the custom parts and the Desoto engine in it. I have plans for another custom, a 4x4 and a COE. here are the other 3 I've built so far: This one will be the stock version. A couple of good things that should go well for me on this build. I've built two 3 in 1s so I'm fairly familiar with the kit. Although this is the first stock, for my 53 ford wagon, I built a stock engine so I also have an idea of how that goes. Cleaned up some parts the last couple of days and laid primer and some base flat black on them. Using a resin spare tire fender. Not sure on the color yet. Here are some pics:
  7. Here is my 69 stock a replica of a frI ends I built for her, fun build.
  8. Revell Drag Austin... I've got a soft spot for slow English cars. So now I'm going to "restockify" this Austin. Gluing the doors shut because I hate hinges... New seats, new wheels, smaller diameter rear wheel well, taillights, grille... Cosworth 4 cylinder engine? Hmmm.... Here's what I'm starting with.
  9. Has anybody ever converted a drag car back to stock? I'm thinking about doing it with my 1950 Austin Devon drag car. Looks sorta stupid to me, but mostly because I have a soft spot for slow British cars
