Scale I Build

  1. Hello Everybody! My next project is the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 snap kit by Polar Lights. This is a simplified version of the movie car but still an adequate representation. It should provide a good platform for a skilled builder to to add as much detail as they want. I do plan to bump up the detail a bit here and there, I'll have to see how it goes. The first order of business is a test fit in the hope of identifying any potential problem areas. Ah-Ha! Here's one here. The locating tabs on the forward ends of the fin pieces seem to interfere with the positioning. They may have to go. But in the meantime, it's on to the basic body prep. First some primer. Then some sanding. Given the age of the molds, the body castings aren't too bad. Just some standard parting lines. That's all for now. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
  2. This is my first build in 35+ years, since I was a kid. AMT Ecto 1A Ghostbusters It´s build out of the box...haven´t painted the body otherwise everything else is painted mainly to instrictions.Have also seen a couple of videos on Youtube of other builds of the car. 95% of all is painted with brush using Vallejo Air paint. Only chassis and main interieur was airbrushed. No clear coat either. I know that Slimey and Marshmellow Man is featured in "Ghostbusters 1" movie and Ecto 1A is from "Ghostbusters 2" The figures was found on wish.com
  3. I built this some time ago, my first airbrush paint job, I'm not sure how I did it before an airbrush, there is no going back. As the title hints at, this is somewhat of a hybrid prop car in that most of the build contains parts from the second Ghostbusters movie; however, the logo decal is from the first. Used some cheap acrylic paints, and cleared it with 2 part POL car clear coat. Did some weathering and slime stains and grunge. Cool model, hoping to make another and scratch some proton packs and other props.
