Outlaw10.5 Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Hello fellow model'r I have decided to finally make an account to join you guys in this amazing hobby. This will be my first (not box stock build) so far I have widened the wheel wells and brang the wheel tubs up ... I've gotta. A little ahead of my self though ... I did not take the time and picture how to build my chassis (tube chassis) so any pointers or if someone can build one... Would be appreciated I hope yall enjoy what I have so far ... I will be making a photobucket to post better pictures soon! ?
Outlaw10.5 Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 here is a better picture and a picture of my other build that is gonna be on the back burner for a bit
futurattraction Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Cool! NIce start on the '66. The 'Bird looks like it's off to a good start too!
Outlaw10.5 Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 Mike & Scott thank you both! I hope to start on the chassis this evening... would you guys by chance happen to have any pointers on a how to ?? it will be my first scratch built chassis
am73grand Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Nice body work. Those are both going to be cool builds!
cobraman Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I agree. You have the makings of a couple nice cars there.
tubbs Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 nice start. cool body to pick too. has to be a blown shotgun in there. I will be watching.we have quite a few of these builds going on. I am starting a cuda, and will be bring out a johan superbird I started on when the first soft seal 57 chevy cane out (yea, I am pretty slow on building)and ford lightning out of the moth balls soon. I know I will run out of storage space with all the pictures I an saving. nice to know we have builders that do step by stem builds. helps out tremendously. carry on gentlemen, carry on!!
johnbuzzed Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 That Galaxie is so bizarre, it's cool! Whoda thunk of using that body style as a Pro Mod? I can't really help with the chassis info, there are plenty of people here who can, but I will definitely follow this build.
Outlaw10.5 Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 little update on the galaxie.... but first let me thank all of you for the kind words!! I finished raising the driver side wheel well lastnight and started sanding on it today both passenger and driver sides are still a little ruff around the corners .... but here is what I got so far! hope you all enjoy!! thanks,Chad

He has doing the chassis build down to a science plus he shows how he does. There is a link to one of his projects.
Outlaw10.5 Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 Will have more photos soon! And if anyone can give me and opinion oh what size tubing rod I should use would be great... I'm thinking "0.080" should be just about perfect ??
W-409 Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 I believe that .080" rod will be just fine. I used it on the cage of my '90 Mustang LX: This is looking very interesting! The modifications you've done look very nice and clean. I can't wait to see more of this.
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) check out the table in this first thread in ghis section for the scale tubing sizes and match the size on the actual cars. Edited March 22, 2015 by bobthehobbyguy
bobthehobbyguy Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 (edited) Here is a link to alston chassis works for a shoebox chevy that gives tubing sizes for the chassis. https://www.cachassisworks.com/p-648-avenger-4130-strut-55-57-chevy-3-chopped-roofline.aspx Edited March 22, 2015 by bobthehobbyguy
