Fat Brian Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I need help figuring out the color of a future project. It's an odd seventies orange that is a bit lighter than anything I've seen out there. Does anyone know what this color is called?
disabled modeler Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Looks like one of the farm tractor company colors?
Superpeterbilt Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Brian, it looks like a Pumkin orange, or a butterscotch maybe. Are you going to build it with the Detroit Diesel and the heavy truck chassis? I have extra Detroits if you need it.
Tesla Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 (edited) Maybe this chart will be of help: http://scalemodeldb.com/paintcharts/modelmaster Paint selection is by manufacturer. Edited March 19, 2015 by Tesla
Fat Brian Posted March 20, 2015 Author Posted March 20, 2015 Thanks, I will take a look at that. Terry, I bought a 6-71 from Spaulding just for this.
Muncie Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 difficult to really get good color from the photo - but it looks like an orange that Ford had in their commercial/fleet colors - could be the same as grabber orange.
Mackvision Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 Might be just the lighting in the picture, but that looks an awful lot like "school bus yellow" to me?...................................Mark
Fat Brian Posted March 21, 2015 Author Posted March 21, 2015 I might have it, it looks like a stock color called Sunset Orange 064.
Jim B Posted March 21, 2015 Posted March 21, 2015 (edited) Kind of surprised JT hasn't chimed in on this one. He's our orange expert! Edited March 21, 2015 by Jim B
rockpete Posted March 22, 2015 Posted March 22, 2015 That is dark yellow Ford called their orange Calypso Coral
Fat Brian Posted April 21, 2015 Author Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) After a few emails with the builder he said it was a Corvette orange metallic with gold flakes in the clear coat, I think this car looks pretty similar. Edited April 21, 2015 by Fat Brian
