spencer1984 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I've been visiting this forum for years, and countless times have said to myself "I need to finish setting up my account and start posting." I build the same way, having way more ideas and plans than finished models. I generally stick to ~1/24 scale vehicles from pop culture, and always welcome comments, suggestions, and criticisms on my work. Here are a few examples of what I like to build: Furious 6 Dodge Charger Daytona customBatman BatmobileGhostbusters 2 Ecto-1AFrom Russia with Love Chevrolet Riptide Corvette
Ramfins59 Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Welcome to our plastic playground Bill. Those are some nice looking models.
BubbaJoe Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 welcome...very nice models...i especially like the ecto 1
Harry P. Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Are you the same Spencer that I know from the SA forum?
spencer1984 Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Thanks, guys! Harry - yup, that's me. IIRC, we traded a lot of pictures in the "Styling Snafus" thread about a million years ago.
Foxer Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Welcome to THE forum. Those are some cool builds ... I like builds based on reality as I tend to drift towards making all the cars I've owned. ... and we seem to have the same philosophy .. "I build the same way, having way more ideas and plans than finished models"
DumpyDan Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Well well, you are quite the builder, and you should have joined years ago. You need to learn how to share Bill, nice builds, more details on the truck.
spencer1984 Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Thanks! Mike, that's one of my few ventures away from the TV/movie genre...I've done one each of the cars my wife and I have driven, with plans for at least a couple more in the future. One of these days... Here are a couple more pics of the truck. It started life as AMT's '60 Chevy Fleetside, updated to a '61 with the MCG photoetch set and with pretty much everything aft of the cab scratchbuilt. Wheels were from a diecast tow truck, and other details like lights and mirrors were from my parts box. Exact details about 1-ton Chevrolet trucks sold and used in 1960s eastern Europe are difficult to find, so I had to make some guesses:
Erik548 Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) did you shorten the Daytona too? man that looks good Edited March 27, 2015 by Erik548
spencer1984 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Thanks! Yes, I think I ended up taking about 14" out of the nose and shortened the wing just a hair.

Yes, I think I ended up taking about 14" out of the nose and shortened the wing just a hair. only saying this because you said your open to suggestions/criticisms and it may be fixable without a repaint or much work. this could be the camera angle but it still looks like the wing is a little high, the one in the movie was about level with the roof. but it could be your camera angle http://image.carcraft.com/f/featuredvehicles/1305_ccrp_dodge_charger_daytona_fast_furious_6/47211749/1305-phr-23%2Bdodge-charger-daytona%2Bfast-furious-6%2Bdodge-charger-daytona%2Bfast-furious-6%2Bprofile.jpg
spencer1984 Posted March 27, 2015 Author Posted March 27, 2015 Absolutely, thanks for the feedback! It's exaggerated a little by the angle, but I think you're right - I think the supports are about the thickness of the wing too high. Here's a WIP photo after I had shortened them, and at the time they seemed pretty close to what I could find for reference photos:
mod3l Lover Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Hello Bill, Welcome aboard, I have been enjoying your builds for a long time now! David S.
