Lyle Willits Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Last year Tom Kren went to a car show and posted pictures of this car. Well, we've all seen cars that just grab ya, but you don't know why. So, for about a year, I've been thinking I have to build this from the mostly-incorrect AMT '69 Chevelle kit, which is already partially a Malibu. So far, I've added the trim for the vinyl roof and made a bench seat from a back seat from a second kit. I'll be using the wheels from the newly reissued Revell '50 Ford pickup. Using an AMT '69 Olds 442 chassis and under-hood structures. The "flattened" hood will receive the vents from an AMT '66 Olds. Don't know what engine the real car has (badged as a 350) but I'll probably throw some kind of surprise in there. THANKS TOM!

Oh I cant forget buddy Papafo! beeeeeeer! Nice looking project Lyle, I had a 1:1 '70 Malibu coupe and got as far bolting a TH350 up to the small block before I sold it and moved on to the next project car. Funny, I blame a lot of stuff on Tom Kren too, like driving in circles around Columbus last weekend. That's the last time you'll be in the navigators seat ..... -Steve
cruz Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 I love that green! Hmm, what exactly is that color? I wanna use it on one of my builds so what would be the closest thing to that color? Try using Hampstead Green from Dupli-color, very close to that shade!!!
Tom Kren Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 Thanks Tom! I like the looks of this already, Lyle. Hey lets just blame Bill! LOL
camaroman Posted February 22, 2008 Posted February 22, 2008 (edited) LOOKIN' GOOD LYLE!!!!! I don't know what color it is, but chevy painted about a million cars that color during the sixties and seventies. But I love it!!!! Once worked for a guy that had a 65' or 66' 4 door Biscayne that shade. That baby was wicked fast. The dude had worked at the Atlanta assembly plant at that point in time. He had ordered the car for his Mom and Dad with every available option for the Caprice's and had spec'd the smallblock engine option from the police car sheets. Now this car was in rough shape in '77 /'78 but he kinda used it as a loaner car of sorts. I had the chance to drive it for about two weeks while my car was in the shop..Scared my kid brother ****less the first day in it.... Mom still won't let me live that down!!! Long live the Green Biscuit!! Edited February 22, 2008 by camaroman

If it's the factory correct '69 Chevy color that would be code 59 Frost Green Metallic. It's also called Limelight Green Metallic on Pontiac's MCW stocks it for airbrush use. I'm not sure if there's a Hobby Shop spray bomb equivalent. -Steve
novadose71 Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 That kinda grabs me too. Good choice of subject matter. It's pretty much the same color combo as my 1/1-71 Nova.
