BLOODBANE Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 O.K. so a little back story here. I normally build rock crawlers/trail rigs (1:1). My wife says we need a car, so I ask her what she wants. She tells me a Dodge Challenger. Not the RT or Hellcat though. I find her a 2014 SXT plus.... Only 11k miles and owned only 7mos. So in true modelers fashion I find a model of it... The model started out as a RT, but I matched the engine cover thats in our SXT (3.6). I used actual auto paint (Dodge code PBX=Jazz Blue Metallic Pearl) which is the color of our Challenger. I think it turned out pretty good. Anyways thanks for looking and any comments will be welcome (even negative ones, they will help me build better models). One other thing, if you ever get a chance to drive one of these cars (either the SXT, RT, or Hellcat), do it. i love our new ride. Even with the smaller engine it flat out hauls and we get 25/26 mpg out of it
Petetrucker07 Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Wonderful job replicating your wife's ride. Looks great, awesome work.
moparfarmer Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Nice model and 1:1..Had an SXT Challenger demo in 2010 with the 3.5..Only complaint was the back seat..Although I don't really care about any seat except behind the wheel there was hardly any room for grand-kids..Was a fun ride though..
MrObsessive Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 (edited) Bloodbane that looks great, and I should someday do the same as I own a 1:1 2011. You're absolutely right------one shouldn't sniff at the DOHC V6 as it to me is about as much a headsnapper as the Hemi! I don't get quite the mileage in mine as you do yours, but then I haven't taken it on a long trip more than a couple hours as of yet. I bought mine in December, and I haven't put quite 3k on it yet. I may have to get with you to see how you did the engine cover------that's the only hangup I have in building one, and mine has the 20" American mags. I've seen those wheels in certain kits (they look like the ones on my Viper build) so I might have to raid the parts box and put those on it. Don't know if you've seen my Challenger (I made a separate post on it), but here are a couple pics....... These wheels I need to find again in kit form........ I just wish I could put mine in the garage as you can yours! Edited March 31, 2015 by MrObsessive
BLOODBANE Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 I like those rims. I told my wife we should black out the car and she said no, but I might be able to talk her into something like that. for the cover, i just snapped a pic of the real car and used a flat piece of styrene. Cut it out and rounded the corners and it looked close enough. On another note I bought the sequential taillight kit for our Challenger, and all I can say is they are awesome on this car. The main reason my wife wanted a Challenger is because she used to have a 71 that they used to race. I will have to get her to dig up the pics and post them....
