bigdrag1 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Sweet build John, love the color and great Idea to have two hoods..
Ramfins59 Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 Nice job John. That certainly is a different color.
426-Hemi Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Thanks guys! Was a FUN build! The engine was the most in-depth part to the car...... Its got a custom made twin turbo feeding a custom made Hillborn injector set up on a 392 Hemi in it and lowered it a bit, and this particular car was thee first time I have EVER used Bare Metal Foil too......NEVER liked this model growing up, but I won it on a build off online and then turned right around and put it in another contest thats running right now...... Which saying that as a "Mopar guy" seems out ofplace not likingthe 300 BUT done this way I LOVE IT! I'd take a real one now, anyday!
DeeCee Posted April 4, 2015 Posted April 4, 2015 BEAUTIFUL build young fella, absolutely love all the work you have put into this build, especially the twin turbo set up, any closer pics of the motor John?
426-Hemi Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 OK guys Dale asks for details on the engine (He's seen the whole build of this car) so. Here have a look at these: Doesn't look like much (size) in a "finished" car, BUT to see it BEFORE thecar was wrapped around it, its a bit MORE then you might first think...... A bit different when there are 140 pics to this single car taken as it was assembled!
426-Hemi Posted April 4, 2015 Author Posted April 4, 2015 Very nice build. What paint is that? The "pink" is Testors Model Masters "Panther Pink" from a bottle sprayed through my air brush. The roof color was a 2 phase paint, Testors flat white as the base and then Testors "Pactra" White Pearl over top of that and then Rustoleum Lacquer gloss over the whole car. HTH

DumpyDan Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 That looks really good, tough one to look good but you did it
426-Hemi Posted April 5, 2015 Author Posted April 5, 2015 Thanks guys! Yes, I have to agree it is a difficult one to make it look good as the Chrysler grille "frown" is a difficult one to work with to make that happen! I hoped I did it anyway..... Again thanks for the kudo's, was a fun build no less, and I'd like to do more of the 50's Mopar's now (I was for a long time stuck on the muscle car era of Mopar but this one opened up a new door for me!
PARTSMARTY Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 a great model -I always say originality rules-that is an absolute home run-engine creativity is simply amazing!!!
Ace-Garageguy Posted April 5, 2015 Posted April 5, 2015 Nice job routing all that turbo plumbing over-under-around-and-through the suspension and frame. Good stuff.
426-Hemi Posted April 6, 2015 Author Posted April 6, 2015 Thanks guys! I appreciate the kind words! Makes it all worth while, ya know? There WILL be others like this, or sort of anyway to come!
om617 Posted April 7, 2015 Posted April 7, 2015 Great job,all the engine detail and plumbing is a joy to watch. This thing would fry tires all day long
426-Hemi Posted May 19, 2015 Author Posted May 19, 2015 I thought I'd go "hunting" for this as I posted this build a while ago so..... BUT my turbo tutorial is/was built for this car! I ought to post the entire build! (I have it all written out for everyone to see!
