dragstk Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 I have been away from the hobby for several years (20+). When I was last building, there was no resin casters, no photo etch, BMR, etc. Now, its like being in a candy store with whats available. But my first couple of purchases did not go well, little or no communication, l-o-n-g delivery times and bad quality parts. I was disappointed. But I thought I'd try again. I ordered tires and wheels from Scenes Unlimited and a Chevy BB from VCG Resins. Wow! Good communication, parts delivered right when they said they would and some real nice products So I'd like to thank these guys and recommend them. Great doing business with them
1930fordpickup Posted April 11, 2015 Posted April 11, 2015 Welcome back to the hobby Jeff. Scenes Unlimited is a great company. I have not purchased anything from VCG. Good move to ask before you buy from resin casters.
misterNNL Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I don't know what type of models you're building but I can highly recommend Holthaus resins,Replicas and Minatures of Maryland and Jimmy Flintstone as reputable vendors.I did not build for a 20 year period and have to agree that this is a great time to be a model builder. Look at the information that's available at our fingertips with sites like this one.Simply amazing isn't it?
mikemodeler Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Jeff, Thanks for the information, I agree that the two you mentioned are among the best for quality, service and communication as I have bought from both of them several times and have been very pleased. Welcome back and enjoy the hobby. As someone once told me, if you see something in resin, buy it because the company might not be around forever!
dragstk Posted May 7, 2015 Author Posted May 7, 2015 I'd like to add another tip of the hat to... Michael Hanson at Best Model Cars Parts. He does license plates, dash gauges and some resin http://bestmodelcarparts.com/products.php I got conformation within hours of ordering. He responded right away to my e mails. Great quality work. Very highly recommended
tbill Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 his plates are pretty nice, got a bunch of them at the spring thaw show in Utica back in march.
High octane Posted May 10, 2015 Posted May 10, 2015 Hmmmm, looks like he's got some pretty good stuff to offer.

I just ordered his gauge decals for the 57 Chevy I am getting ready to start, and odds are I will be buying from him again for other kits. $2.49 shipped can't be beat. Russ
dragstk Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Glad it helped, Russ. My friends "well you just make them, copy them, resize them, print them all out" Yea but for $2,50, I can just stick them on.
