I just started working on this kit... (please click on the thumbnail to get a better look at the hood)

I had finished the other version of this kit about a year ago. I fully expected to find a part that simulates the flip-up vent for the air cleaner, but I've looked over the parts trees and the instructions and have not been able to find one. (BTW, the part below the hood is included, but there is no extension for above the hood. And without this part, there is just a strange looking hole in the hood!) Can anyone here tell me if AMT just forgot to include it? (It is clearly shown in the box photos!)

IIRC, The hood door in this kit is supposed to be the "Super Bee" style, not the flat air grabber style. So, no, the part you're looking for isn't in there.

That's not what the "street machine" version looks like - this looks more like my R/T kit! As you can clearly see in the box photos, there is a pop-up vent, but nothing for it in the kit, and without it, there is a very noticeable hole in the hood!

I see by your photo of the box top that this is an AMT/Ertl kit, and not a Round2 reissue, so it's no surprise that the part you're looking for from the box art isn't actually in the kit. This was a fairly common problem with some releases prior to the purchase by Round2, just decide if you want to scratch build it, or mark it up to experience and just fill the hole with a piece of sheet plastic.

Check the instructions for the part number and keep checking the parts trees, I know its in there since I have several of these Charger kits its just been a long time since I had one out on the bench in front of me.

There isn't even a diagram of one in the hood section of the instructions!

OK - then my kit was not just a hiccup, in that this kind of thing had been noticed as a trend. That answers my question! Thanks!

Just to let everyone know, I decided to remove the part below the hood and add a scratchbuilt door in the open position. It looks real good!

The chassis is a completed module in my build, and as I do so, I remove sections of the sprue so that I don't have to look at them again. So, this part of the sprue is gone. However, I have included a scan of the page, and you can compare it to yours to see if the door is on your copy...

my instruction sheet is the exact same as yours.

But,,,,,,,,, sounds like you pitched the parts

I have to admit that my technique had good intentions - however, I have had to do some dumpster diving to find a part I thought I had removed. So, I'll take the blame for this stupidity... and will no longer dump sections of my sprues. I have thoroughly learnt my lesson... Thank you for helping me see my error. :(
