wayne swayze Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 My friend Ed built this back in 1963. After much history with the model, I was given the car after Ed passed away 3 weeks ago. It will remain tnis way.
lordairgtar Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 Yes, I agree that it should stay the way it is. I would obtain another Merc and the custom bits (57 Chevy kit maybe) and build a newer version to set beside it.
wayne swayze Posted May 2, 2015 Author Posted May 2, 2015 This is the front of the car. Ed used a '58 Chev fitted to the Merc. The rear is indeed the custom option from a '57 Chev. Keep in mind, this was built in the EARLY 60s by a Canadian kid. I liked his attitude!
1930fordpickup Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 That is some vision from a kid. It will not be hard to get the parts to recreate his work.
vintagercr Posted May 2, 2015 Posted May 2, 2015 I agree with everyone above, it should be left alone. Sorry to hear of your friends passing.
DumpyDan Posted May 3, 2015 Posted May 3, 2015 Ya leave it alone, would be cool to do another as close as possible to set beside each other
Tom Geiger Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 A nice tribute to your friend. I have a few models in my collection that were created by friends who have left us, and it's comforting to have them safely on my shelf.
High octane Posted May 11, 2015 Posted May 11, 2015 Interesting build you have there, and if it were mine I'd just dust it off and put it in a display case. There are plenty of Merc kits out there for you to build.
