Zoom Zoom Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 This is the Fujimi Cayman w/the Scale Productions transkit for the Cayman GT. Color scheme was inspired by the '08 Porsche GT3 RS. Originally intended to be a race car for an ACME Cayman GT group build (everyone picks a Porsche livery and makes it a "fantasy racer"), I felt it looked too good as a street car so I'm looking for a vintage livery for my next Cayman GT. Paint is Tamiya gloss aluminum, orange was custom mixed to match my custom decals, roll bar modified from a Revell Subaru WRX. This is an entirely different looking beast than my recent "heritage" Cayman, and I like 'em both.
Raul_Perez Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 (edited) WOW!! That makes me want to get back into building sports cars again! Excellent paint and decal work!! Keep up the good work, Edited February 24, 2008 by Raul_Perez
camaroman Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Beautiful work as always, ZZ!!! I like the heritage look on the second one!!
Brendan Posted February 23, 2008 Posted February 23, 2008 Beautiful looking car. How did you like the Scale Production Transkit? I was thinking about maybe picking one up.
Zoom Zoom Posted February 23, 2008 Author Posted February 23, 2008 Beautiful looking car. How did you like the Scale Production Transkit? I was thinking about maybe picking one up. Thanks! It's pretty decent; no major issues. You have to cut off f/r bumpers and add the resin ones, I smoothed them in and then rescribed the panel lines. I had to tweak the front corner lamps to fit, taillight lenses needed a bit of trimming, wheels needed to be modified (actually the brake backing where it meets the suspension) because the ride height was too high. It's a nice kit, P/E includes racing harness detail, brake discs, the wheels are two-piece machined rims w/plastic centers. Got it from Strada Sports. I like it well enough to do another as a race car, and Scale Productions wants these photos for it's web page, so I guess it gets the stamp of approval
Zoom Zoom Posted February 24, 2008 Author Posted February 24, 2008 that is a really nice, clean and beautiful porsche, bob. color choice is dead right. as for the race version, the cayman makes an excellent one. have you seen uve alzen's 24hr racer from last year? gorgeous car. porsche actually tried to stop the alzen's from building it. fearing it would whip up on there gt3s. cannot wait to see your version. Thanks! That's a killer Cayman racer; I'd heard about it but hadn't seen pics. It begs to be built in scale.
ismaelg Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Bob, I have to say that is my favorite Cayman build ever! I was convinced I was done on Porsches, but that transkit and your inspiration made me go "hmmmm" Thanks,
