Snake45 Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Bought an M2 '65 Mustang cheap at a local toy show and and was pretty impressed with it. Decided to see what else they offered and turned up this '69 Camaro Rally Sport 327, which looked interesting, so I bought one off eBay. It's not bad for what it is. There wasn't much to do to improve and Snakify it. I normally take the bodies off diecasts so I can paint the base of the headlight stems white to get rid of the googly-eye look, but I wasn't able to get the body off this one, so the parking lights are still googly. I was just barely able to snake the paintbrush between body and chassis and take care of the stems of the backup lights, though. Aside from that, I painted the grille black, and touched up the headlight doors with black as well. Yes, I know, '69 Camaros in Black and Fathom Green came through with Argent grilles, not black, but I liked the way the grille looked black so I just left it. I can always “argent-ize” the egg crates with a silver Sharpie in about five minutes if the mood ever strikes me. Painted the wheels Testor Steel with black slots. Not 100% happy with how those turned out and I might try to improve those a little someday if I'm ever hit with a Fit of Patience. Also painted the backup light bezels “chrome” with Testor Silver and silver Sharpie. Not necessarily my favorite '69 Camaro model, but for @ $25 (shipped) and a couple hours of model-fu time, it'll look okay on my shelf at work. (I never take any of my good plastic stuff to work.)
1930fordpickup Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 I like this car Snake. What I like about most it is that it has a flat hood and no rear spoiler. Many of these cars left the lot that way as it was an option many did not pay for. Yet when you go to a show they all have them.

The representation of the RS front end is actually a LOT more accurate than the Revell Z/28 (or snapper) kit. I've been playing around with one of those for almost a year and I'm about to give up and just use the non-RS front end on it.
AzTom Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 Looks good. I painted my Z-28 grill flat black back in the day, I thought it just looked better.
GrumpyGrowly Posted May 31, 2015 Posted May 31, 2015 Have really enjoyed looking at your Camaro, thanks
oldscool Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Looks good Snake. I had a 1:1 like that one - same color with trunk spoiler and no stripe. Mine had the full wheel covers that look like fake mags.
