engmecwilson Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 Tried to make something similar to Mikka Hakkinen special edition....just added metal stickers and seatbelt photoetcheds. Red parts were painted with fluorescent red automotive paint, but unfortunately pics doesn´t show real effect.
Dominik Posted May 27, 2015 Posted May 27, 2015 you nailed it! Looks better than stock. well done! One Thing, perhaps to Change: the numberplates are "wrong" mounted. the one with the round upper stamp must be on the rear, the sixcornered on the front. the round stamp shows the date for the upcoming technic check, the sixcornered is the old one for the emissions check. today we have only the round one one the rear plate. This is just for info
GerN Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 Thanks for building and sharing these unusual cars. And they appear very realistic.
Plastheniker Posted May 28, 2015 Posted May 28, 2015 The first A-Klasse was extremely popular here in Germany, so I can say that your model looks very realistic. People, however, found the Mika Häkkinen paintwork very ... aaaah... questionable. I think that I saw only one of them in the streets and it looked ... aaaah ... questionable.
PatW Posted May 30, 2015 Posted May 30, 2015 We had three of the real ones of these in the family, mostly 190 diesels. I've built two of the models and had the same problem with each of them. The rear window just sits in the space and is difficult to fix. Both were oversize and had to be shaved down and then had to stand the car on it's nose and try and use clear fix or superglue to hold it there. Yours looks superb, just like the real ones that I saw parked nearby when I marshalled at the F1 GP at Silverstone just 5 miles away in the day. Well done. We done have the real ones anymore as they have changed the latest design to boy-racer hatchbacks that don't have the space we need. We sold them and bought new Renault Capturs.
