Hey Guys

Starting my next adventure. As I have stated in the past, I am getting started back into building after a 30+ year layoff, so this will be a learning experience.

I have gotten the AMT 66 Nova Pro Street. This actually my second kit. The first one I bought had so much flashing that I decided to use the motor for another build. This was a model that I wanted to build, so I got a second. The second model did not have very much flash ( I think that is what it is called ).

I usually start with the motor, But this time I am going to start with the chassis.

Hey Guys,

If you look at the frame rails right behind the motor mounts, you can see stress cracks. The frame from my other kit is actually broken. This must be from how they remove the frame from the molds.

Hey Guys,

As a result of the stress cracks on the frame rails, the rails past the motor mounts were slanted down. I glued in the wheel wells and put a weight on the chassis to pull the front up.

I am suprised at the cracks. I have one of these kits about half done, it has been fighting me tooth and nail all the way. I got frustrated and boxed it up for now. I hope you have better luck with yours.

I have been building this kit as well. I did not see any issues with chassis cracks. I did have lots of flashing around the parts though. I have opted to use a blown hemi and to lower the car some.

Hi Guys,

The stress cracks may have come from the same batch. Not a big deal. Just surprised to see it.

Hi Guys,

A little update. Finished the chassis. I did not like the stance, so I lowered the front end.

Getting a little more work done on the Nova. I got the rear end to sit a little lower. Also, doing some work on the motor.
