cobraman Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Here is the first Cobra I ever built. I built it somewhere around 1965 if I remember right. I molded in a scratch built front and rear spoiler as well as some rear fender flares. I used either Testors putty or AMT putty and even after all those years it has not cracked or split in anyway. This is the only kit I saved from back in the day.
Guest Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 (edited) I wish I had my first build! The putty from back then must have been good stuff. This new cr@p sucks. I used it when I first started, and threw away the whole tube almost!! I haven't even touched the stuff in 15 years or so. Cool build! It's crazy how our tastes change isn't it? cobraman Posted June 12, 2015 Author Posted June 12, 2015 Sure is. I would never do that to a Cobra now. You can't improve upon perfection. : )
Porscheman Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Very nice first build. Really explains a lot about your creations now.
Snake45 Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Very cool! What kind of tires are those, and where did you get them in 1965? The AMT Cobra I built in (I think) 1966 only came with the old AMT solid vinyl Firestone Supremes.

Don't recall ever redoing it after I built it. Perhaps a bit after 65 but I know not much.
Nitrozilla Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 You've still got your first build and I can't remember mine. I think it might have been an Austin-Healy, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. I know for a fact that I did NOT put spoilers on it.
TooOld Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 That's pretty cool Ray ! I have a few from back then and they all have big tires sticking waaay out !
