Lyle Willits Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Resin '32 Ford pickup transkit for the Revell '32 Ford Street Rod kits. Duplicolor Bright Red. Chrome reverse/baby moon wheels from an AMT kit - otherwise, everything is Revell or resin.
theflame Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Too cool Lyle, looks awesome! I've got mine on order - quite a wait at the minute but it'll be worth it I'm sure. Got plans for any more 32s? I'm just trynig tow work out how hard it would be to take that resin cab and modify it to make a RPU. Any thoughts?
dub Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Uh,,,,,,,,,what's an RPU? Man, gettin' old must be a bitch! How about: Roadster Pick Up? I know Jim beat me, but I still can't resist!
theflame Posted February 28, 2008 Posted February 28, 2008 Downside of the internet: too many abbreviations!

But Jim is from the UK and you know, they don't realy speak English, so I thought I better ask!. Edited February 29, 2008 by Lyle Willits
theflame Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Hahaha, guilty as charged! Tyre, colour, aluminium...we suck at spelling all them suckas
Lyle Willits Posted February 29, 2008 Author Posted February 29, 2008 Sorry: Roadster Pick Up I can assume that all the parts from the resin kit (combined with a Revell '32 Ford street rod kit) could be used EXCEPT the cab, of course. I would start with the Revell roadster body. I believe you will have to shorten the cowl, then behind the doors, you need to use a rounded body - possibly the bottom part of the resin cab. All '32 Roadster pickups had a fabric uptop that did not fold down - they had to be lifted off of the body. I think Norm does an uptop for the Revell roadster, so that would probably work, or if you have an old Monogram uptop.
tim boyd Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Lyle, really shapr build. When did Norm start offering this transkit? Gotta get one, saves a ton of scratchbuilding. BTW I suggested the '32 RPU (oh., sorry, roadster pickup): to our friends at R-M the same time as the Sedan body.....still keep hoping someday it might appear in kit (though I have to admit it would be a long shot). Best regards...TIM

Best regards...TIM Tim - thanks for the compliments on the build. This is the first one out of the mold. They are available now. I had been hearing the rumor about the tudor sedan for at least two years, but wanted to be SURE what Revell was doiing with the tool, before spending all the time to master up a pickup. Here's the details:
Raul_Perez Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Another very nice build, Lyle!! And, GREAT job mastering the parts!! I'm going to have to get one of those kits for myself. I just really wish that these guys had their own website to see what's available and to buy from. Regards,

Also, MOPARLADY (Shannon Demalio) has Reps & Mins complete catalog on her Fotki site. When I get home, I'll post the link.

Peter Lombardo Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 What a shock..... Lyle built a great looking clean 32 Ford......Nice clean build there...I may just have to order one, just to complete the series of 32's. I agree with some of the other guys, please nudge Norm to get a website. I know I would get more of his great resin stuff if it were easier...personally, I think his stuff is without a doubt the best resin castings available. I have many, most of the stuff I bought was mastered by you...so nudge Norm for me. Thanks, and nice job on the truck.

Norm will have several of these kits there, but it would seem they will go fast. Of course, when Norm runs out of something at a show, he takes your name and address and ships it to you the same week. Thanks Peter, and everyone else, for the nice compliments.
OLDERGUY Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Thanks for the update. Looks as good as all your's do.
Nate Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 (edited) Looks like you did a great job Lyle! I'm gonna have to put some serious though into purchasing one of those bad boys! Will Norm offer a fenderless option for a little less $$? Edited February 29, 2008 by Nate

John Goschke Posted March 1, 2008 Posted March 1, 2008 That's great, Lyle! Nice traditional look. I hope to be able to get one to do pickup of my own.
Nate Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Sweet! Thanks for the info, Lyle! Makes me really miss being up there in the DC area, if only to have such easy access to Norm's (and yours) work! Not to mention the general fun and frivolity of the MAMA meetings
