k.blackwell Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) I've never done a "workbench" post, so here it goes. After building 2 Italeri and 1 Tamiya, I've decided to change it up and go domestic. This will be my first rubbed out paint job, so, if I mess up, you'll be right there with me. ? I will be going traditional on this one, just a little lower than originally out of the box. Edited June 26, 2015 by k.blackwell
k.blackwell Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 So. This is the color of choice. Sanded the seam lines and sprayed dark gray primer to get a deeper effect. Waiting a couple days, then apply the clear.
k.blackwell Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 The interior. First thought I would go two tone white/light green. Now I'm thinking dark green/light green. But would that be too much green?? Opinions??? Decisions, decisions......
Jantrix Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) Looking forward to more. That's a Revell kit by the way.The interior is perfect. Edited June 26, 2015 by Jantrix
k.blackwell Posted June 26, 2015 Author Posted June 26, 2015 (edited) You're right!! And it's right there on the box!!!LoL!!!! To much paint fumes........ Edited June 26, 2015 by k.blackwell
chunkypeanutbutter Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Yep, the white/green interior looks great!
Guest Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Green looks awesome. This is a good kit. I just finished it about two builds ago. I did mine green as well, but with a tan, copper, and gold interior. Keep it up!
thatz4u Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 FYI some parts can be swapped between the Revell kit & the AMT kit, to give more build variations
John Clutch Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Looking good ! Can never go wrong with green, one of my favorite colors on cars. Im sure whatever decision you make on the interior would be the right one, but personally green/white or green/saddle brown would be my choice, with lots of chrome !!!!
bobthehobbyguy Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Like the choice of green for the body. Like the interior in the white and green.
Foxer Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Please fix the title .. this is a Revell kit, not AMT. Had my hopes up for an oldie build eheh
Codi Posted June 26, 2015 Posted June 26, 2015 Nice colors you've picked out Keith. I'd personally do the green and white interior to lighten things up inside....with that chopped top, if you do all green, you won't see much detail I'm afraid because it'll just be too dark inside. Cheers, Tim
Foxer Posted June 27, 2015 Posted June 27, 2015 There you go big guy. Changed it hehe thanks .. and I DO love how yor Merc is looking.. that green is killer!
k.blackwell Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Thanks everybody for the kind words and advice. Yes, I do think the white/green would be best. Progress. Everything was painted yesterday and started building today. Nothing spectacular really..... Thanks for checking it out!!
k.blackwell Posted June 27, 2015 Author Posted June 27, 2015 Also, shot the clear. Waiting for the cure then the fun starts......
k.blackwell Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Thanks for the encouragement everybody!! Well me and the misses have sold our condo and are moving in a week. So, instead of polishing, I went another route I've never tried. Future. Trying to build and pack is proving to be hard. So It'll probably be awhile before the next post. Hopefully from my new workbench!!!!!! Hurray!!!! Progress tonight:
