youpey Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) does anyone know if this new 1948 ford custom coupe revell http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXZWS5&P=W is the same as http://u.jimdo.com/www37/o/se372970042158879/img/i62c7f4748afc5224/1309812373/orig/image.jpg except it has a coupe body? if it is not the same, can the custom coupe be built stock or does it only have custom parts? thank you for your help. mike 51 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 The coupe is chopped n dechromed...building it stock would be a major undertaking.
youpey Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 are there any revell 1948 coupe kits that are stock?
mike 51 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) are there any revell 1948 coupe kits that are stock? no it's the only 48 coupe they make... (the convertible kit can be and it's very nice tho) Edited July 6, 2015 by mike 51
BIGTRUCK Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 IMC or the Testors release of the IMC tooling. Older stuff but not hard to find.
youpey Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 thank you very much for the information. i built the convertible a couple of years ago and i like it very much. its why i wanted to build the coupe to go along with it. i guess i will do the 40 coupe instead
mike 51 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I keep hoping they'll "fix" 48 coupe... there were two nice resin coupes (long door n short door) bodies from Perry's years ago but I don't think they're still available
Greg Myers Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Different kit, multi piece body out of production all with stock parts. Edited July 7, 2015 by Greg Myers
Greg Myers Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 (edited) Yep , there's a Woody Edited July 6, 2015 by Greg Myers
youpey Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 i never have luck with resin. i dont have much luck with dong anything custom. i do ok with box stock, but when i try to put my 2 cents in, i always end up ruining the whole thing
Mike_G Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 I'm currently building the Revell '48 custom coupe and so far it seems like a real nice kit. I'm using the De Soto hemi from the AMT '53 Ford PU and it's like it was made for it
Greg Myers Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 Now give us a stock height with an extra '41 front end clip.
unclescott58 Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I have AMT's 1/43 scale 1948 Ford coupe. Easy to build. And its stock. Scott
tim boyd Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 (edited) Here's a link to an on-line preview of the Revell '48 Ford Chopped Custom Coupe I did when the kit first came out ONLINE REVIEW This was one of my favorite kits of the last few years....not only in terms of all the building options (three grilles, fadeaway fenders or not, 2 tailamps, 2 wheel cover designs, etc.) but also because of the engine ( a terrific rodded flathead) and the dropped chassis suspension, which was so desperately needed but omitted from earlier releases of this kit (the woody and convertible). Most everything swaps easily between the three kits. Highly, highly recommended. TIM - (photos of projects based on this kit directly below) 100% box stock kit build with fadeaway option and Cadillac grille/Cadillac Sombreros/ rear bumper guard tailamps Kitbashed '48 Ford Woody with the Chopped Coupe suspension and drivetrain... . The stock convertible body can be kitbashed with the chopped coupe top.. . The kit can also be kitbashed into a wicked Gasser.... Edited July 7, 2015 by tim boyd
