parkflyrer 50 Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 So I got the BMF put on. That went fairly smooth there were a couple of rough spots.. one of the roof railing was molded very thin hopefully not too noticeable. I removed the Galaxie 500 script off the front fenders for a smoother look plus I'm not very good at that small detailing yet. If anyone out there knows a good way of painting lettering script such as on the hood and trunk as pictured please let me know how to do it.. I tried using BMF and that didn't work for me unless there's a special way of doing it. thanks very much
crazyjim Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 People have been known to BMF before any primer goes on. After painting, but fore clearing, remove the paint by sanding lightly.
JTalmage Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 Looks great! I see your Galaxie is mid-engined as well
StevenGuthmiller Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I apply foil to my scripts just before my final color coat. Then you just shoot your last color coat over it. When it's dry enough to handle, clean the paint off of the foil with a little thinner on a toothpick. Then you can apply your clear coats over the whole thing. Fantastic technique that I use on every build! Steve
John Goschke Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I really like the colors you've chosen for your Galaxie. Foil work is also nicely done. Looking forward to seeing with the clear coats down.
superbike-shaun Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Exactly what Steve said, try on a piece of scrap or spare body first. Shaun
Pim Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 cool mate just a tip make a topic for your build and show all the progress on it in that topic it is quite confusing when I look for progress on your build (or am I just confused easily )
66belair Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Great color choice. The 65 Galaxie is my most. Favorite car of all time.
parkflyrer 50 Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Pim..I was just shown how to properly update on the forums so I will try..sorry for the confusion..I'm kinda new to this forum stuff but it's great
parkflyrer 50 Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 I got the interior just about done. I was thinking of putting a white stripe in the center of the front seats and on the back but it started to look kinda funny so I decided against it..and went with matching the body color with chrome accents. I liked the tips on painting the body script..so any ideas on the dashboard speedo lettering??also gotta get seat belts..LHS was all out

Or you can paint the gauge with the letter color first & then do a wash of the background color over it. This works best if you use a lacquer paint followed by enamel, or enamel followed by acrylic. That way the wash won't dissolve the base coat. Steve
