Mark B Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I've wrestled for a while about which version of Cooter's wrecker to build for my Hazzard Garage diorama- there were at least 4 distinctly different wreckers used throughout the series (none of which matches the old MPC kit by the way!). I settled on the lesser known yellow wrecker seen in seasons 3 and 4 of the show. I'll likely do other versions down the line, but not until I get a few other car models done for the diorama (like a General Lee!). This is a work-in-progress, but starting to look like something!
lghtngyello03 Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) Love the Diorama. Hope you can find a General Lee model floating around that isn't going to be priced through the roof....with all this flag BS we have going on now Edited July 10, 2015 by lghtngyello03
Mark B Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 I've already got several GL kits, so no worries!
Mark B Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 Hey moderators- I should have put this thread in the 'trucks' area; can you move it?
geemoney Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 and daisys pre-jeep yellow road runner! would the 80's monogram offering work?
Mark B Posted July 10, 2015 Author Posted July 10, 2015 I've got the recent release Daisy Road Runner kit- I'm not familiar with the Monogram version
geemoney Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 the monogram issue was not a daisy car, just a real nice road runner, not sure of the year though
crowe-t Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) Mark, Your diorama is looking very nice! You are doing a great job on Cooter's yellow wrecker! I've been watching season 4 in the last few days so I'm familiar with this one. BTW, what kit(2) are you using to make the yellow wrecker? Revell/Monogram put out a 71 Roadrunner that will also work as Daisy's Roadrunner. Daisy had both a 71 and a 74 Roadrunner. The 74 was the first one used in the Georgia episodes. Mike. Mark B Posted July 11, 2015 Author Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) Mike- I started with the AMT Firestone '78 Ford fleetside pickup and used some parts from the Revell '77 GMC wrecker (wheels, tires, front bumper, emergency lights, winch). I had to extend the chassis of the AMT kit by about 1/2". The wrecker bed and tow rig are scratch built. I'm awaiting the decals from JT-Graphics. For now I'm just going with the '74 Roadrunner kit; eventually I'd like to add a '71 to the collection. Mark Edited July 11, 2015 by Mark B
crowe-t Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Mark, Thanks for all the information on the kits you used to make the wrecker. Beautiful job! I like the 71 Roadrunner but the 74 was the first one Daisy had in the original 5 Georgia episodes so I'll build that one first. Mike.
