Several years ago I received the Metal Works Space Shuttle Discovery in my stocking for Christmas.  Well, I finally built it this afternoon.  It wasn't a particularly difficult kit to build, and it sort of looks like the orbiter; so I'm going with it.  :D

For those of you who are not familiar with these kits, they are photo-etched stamped stainless steal.  Here are some photos of the completed kit:

Pretty cool item . I bought one of the Corsair plane kits like this for my BIL. He said the tabs kept breaking and he could not finish it.

Looks like a good Sunday project. It does look as though you had shave some pieces down (metal flakes). Is this typical for the Metal works models? I never done one, but I do see them for sale. I don't buy them cause I don't know what I'm getting into. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the comments, guys.  Sorry to hear about your BIL's problem with his kit, Ray.

Jonathan, those "flakes" are from glitter hairspray, not the kit.  There was no cutting, filing, or shaving of any of the parts.  I sprayed a black poster board with the hairspray to make it look "spacy".  Pick one up, they're pretty cool.

It does look outer spacy! I will pick one or two up. Sorry I guess I jumped to conclusions and let my anxieties take over. Thanks for the info and the swift kick in the right direction.
