Twokidsnosleep Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Sad news indeedI do hope they reprint his published works, very hard to get a hold of themRIP
Old Buckaroo Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Very Sad news indeed , but legends never really die. His work has inspired thousands of modelers (maybe more).I can say his work definitely influenced me.Somewhere around here I have his book and all those great inserts that use to come with aircraft kits way back when. Bruce - what a Great memory , thanks for sharing it.

Bruce - what a Great memory , thanks for sharing it.Probably more like tens of thousands, and I too am one of them. I have several (but not all) of the Monogram inserts, as well as his "How to Build Dioramas" book. My copy of "How to Build Dioramas" book, was one of the first, if not the first, modeling how-to book that I ever purchased, and I still have it. For quite a few years, it was my modeling bible, and in many ways, still is, and will probably continue to be for many more years. Edited August 3, 2015 by Roadrunner
Lunajammer Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Just read this. Very sad. He was a brilliant artist, sometimes using illusion to take modeling to a new level. I attended one of his workshops and really enjoyed seeing and listening to him explain his vast body of work. What a bummer .
my80malibu Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Really liked Sheps work, I remember looking at the articles, with His stunning realistic dioramas, in the library of my old elemtary school. Back in the mid seventies. Those were so cool, A true Artist shep was, may He Rest in Peace.

His work was inspirational and the books, when found, are astronomical. I do hope Kalmbach sees fit to re-print them. Charlie Larkin

Charlie LarkinThey may, now that he's gone. In the meanwhile, I have a few of his books (3 I think). Some are also available as free downloads, though that's not everybody's cup of tea.
