migace Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 Saw this online at mega hobby listed. I thought the old ones and the recent reissue had no interior in addition I read people complained that the glass was bad, opaque or not clear. Also does this have metal axles or plastic axles for the wheels? Is this really available now?
Dave Van Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 It's coming but no ETA yet. Been in the works for a year or so. Kool decals in it and we have something for it too. Plastic axles IIRC.
AC Norton Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 It's coming but no ETA yet. Been in the works for a year or so. Kool decals in it and we have something for it too. Plastic axles IIRC. Dave, is this an old Johan kit......the ace.........
Mark Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 It's an old Jo-Han promotional model...was never released as a kit when it was new.
migace Posted August 20, 2015 Author Posted August 20, 2015 with all the old promos johan did why was this the one they chose to make kits from? Boy think about all the other molds that could be done into a kit? just seeing the usual's come back like the cutlass and the eldorado would be nicer than redoing the rambler. Thanks for the info guys, I like being able to fill in the blanks of history on some of these oldies.

Thanks for the info guys, I like being able to fill in the blanks of history on some of these oldies. Because it was probably among those that were in the best condition. When you look at the original Jo-Han offerings like the USA Oldies, you probably wonder why they didn't reissue things like the mid-Sixties Plymouths and Chryslers. Simple...they probably weren't able to. Even the ones that were reissued weren't exactly like the original kits; the '64 Cadillacs didn't have the steerable front end, those and the Marlin didn't have clear headlight lenses like the original kits, and some of the kits' interiors had later upholstery patterns. They were putting together the stuff that was the most complete at the time, and trying to do it as cheaply as possible.
disabled modeler Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 I have an older issue of it...sadly the wheels and tires are junk otherwise its a cool addition to my wagon collection...just got to find promo wheels, tires, axles.
BIGTRUCK Posted August 20, 2015 Posted August 20, 2015 The Okey issue had fat spline style metal promo axles , green glass and full interior. Decal sheets were huge and there was 3 of them. I still have 3 of these kits left. Ones open if you need to see inside , or are they only releasing a stock promo style kit without all the neat options.
Dave Van Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 (edited) WHY?? Many reasons.....most can't go into here. Just stay tuned. But it is correct many of the desirable promos and kits are LONG gone. Edited August 21, 2015 by Dave Van
slusher Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Would love to see this kit on the shelves but really wonder if it will ever happen...
VW93 Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I hope they do a better job of packing the kits contents then they did for the last issue of this kit. The last issue by Okey was packed without regard to protecting the contents.I opened a sealed kit a few months ago and found the luggage rack broken and missing the tail lights.Granted there were a lot of parts included in the kit but the contents should have been packed a lot better.
Nova-ss Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I would rather see some of the others not the rambler.someone should be able to find away to make the old tooling work to reissue the kits that would sell..Chris
Edsel-Dan Posted August 22, 2015 Posted August 22, 2015 As was said before, You CAN'T re-issue a kit that Tooling was Scrapped!!!!!!!That is why MOST Jo-Han kits & Promos are GONE FOREVER!!!! I myself am HAPPY for this one to came back! The "Custom Curbside Cruiser was a GREAT kit!I have ONE, but wanted moreTry to get one right now for $20.oo!!!!!!!!They Might Start at that, but Climb over 30 to even 40-50.oo FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I will pass on the Plastic axles and adapt to standard 1/16 inch Music Wire oneslink in AMT & MPC kits.EASY to do--Plastruct or Evergreen 1/8 tube drill out to 3/32 inner diameterinserted into axle mount on wheel, then 3/32 tube drilled out for 1/16 rod inserted into 1/8 tubeLast just use AMT/MPC axle of correct length, or Cut one from New rod!!Plastruct 1/16 inch ABS coated rod is another option.(And Easier to ct than Music wire/rod!!!!!!!!) I am hoping the other Old Jo-Han Snap kits announced as the New IMCwill eventually got re-issued by Moebius/Model King as well as the 59 Dodge show at iHobby last year. I do not know what other Old Jo-Han pieces MIGHT exist, but likelyonly a Few other X-El promo offerings.I Do wish the 31 Cadillac's were there, and most if not all the USA OldiesI am Betting that Most Not issued to some degree AFTER Okey too Full controldo Not exist in Full anymore. ie 66 Cadillac Ambulance/Hearse & 68 Fury Police!!!
