ismaelg Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Hello, Here we go again, picking up where we left 2 weeks ago. I continued polishing the Z06 body. There are a few spots that may need some additional care but PLEASE help me get away from the stupid idea of a repaint. I'll try to take some pics in natural daylight tomorrow. That's it for now. It's good to be back, even if it's only for a few minutes Thanks,
MrObsessive Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Repaint??? Are you kidding?? It's Beautiful!! Can't wait to see more!
Zoom Zoom Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Nice shine 8) You must be crazy to think about repainting that!
ismaelg Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 Len, That color is yellow That is Cobra Colors Velocity Yellow, a factory correct finish. It is a bit more "lemony" than Millenium yellow, which is a little bit more "orangy". Thanks,
LT Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Forget the repaint. That's what touch-up brushes are for!
ismaelg Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 Update: OK, repaint idea is off. I was able to get most imperfections out with a little more elbow grease. There are still a few spots to take care of, but nothing major. Biggest "problem" so far is this: easy to fix with an airbrush pass. Thanks,
Len Woodruff Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 What did you use to seal the plastic? When I did the Daytona Sunset Orange I used Binzer like Steve Millberry uses. This is Cobra Colors.
ismaelg Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 Len, that is gorgeously beautiful. Is that Monterey red? I use Moon mud primer on all my Cobra Colors jobs. Before Moon mud, I used Plastikote T-235 with excellent results. Unfortunately, Plastikote disappeared from the face of the earth, at least here. I liked to use it as a "coarse" primer for general use and sanding, and then moon mud as a fine primer before color. But now is Moon mud only. Thanks,
ismaelg Posted July 30, 2006 Author Posted July 30, 2006 That color is very hard to photograph. Mine looks red in almost all pictures as well. Only on a direct sunlight and/or slightly overexposed pic it will look orange. That's my favorite color for a C6 coupe. Thanks,
Jairus Posted July 30, 2006 Posted July 30, 2006 Verrrrryyyyy nice paint jobs BOTH of you Corvette guys! 8)
