geemoney Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 oh yes!!!love the cowl removal!make me want to build somethin'
JTalmage Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I love the work you're putting into it. totally dig it... but man, the cowl is killing me. It needs something. Like a diagonal cut from the front bottom up to the top back... it just looks odd without the top panel. I think a diagonal cut would make it less weird. just my opinion. but other than that I love it.

JTalmage Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Hey then if thats what you're after, I think it works nicely then.
exesivefire Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Well a series of good ideas lead to a little luck and a different front axle. Started by thinning out a set of wheel backs from a 32 kit And here is where the luck came in, they worked out perfect. Thinned the mounting flanges and found a set of disks. Epoxy some pins in and now I have fronts. That led to my next problem, the front axle I was using had to go. By pure dumb luck the new 29 roadster had a axle that would work perfect.
exesivefire Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 That led to me having to rework all that lovely fragile front end stuff and again I got lucky, also put some speed holes in that thing while I was at it. and manifold is coming closer to something useable.
Sixties Sam Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I like this! It's cool how you removed the cowl and set the engine back. Should be really nice when it's finished!Sam
Impalow Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Nice work as usual buddy... 16 more days.. yikes... who's idea was this again?
exesivefire Posted September 10, 2015 Author Posted September 10, 2015 Nice work as usual buddy... 16 more days.. yikes... who's idea was this again? I don't remember actually...
exesivefire Posted September 11, 2015 Author Posted September 11, 2015 Ok so I hated that manifold, it reminded me of sawhorses or something silly... And not in a good way. so I cut it up and made a new one.
exesivefire Posted September 12, 2015 Author Posted September 12, 2015 (edited) Thanks guys, I'm having fun with this one. I am happy wit this version of the blower manifold. Looks even better now that I took some thickness off the front of the blower too. playing with induction ideas, I think it got a name "over the top" then I started working on the rear, ended up making a bunch of scraps and decided to change gears. Played with the body a bit, and some iron paint. Edited September 12, 2015 by exesivefire
bobthehobbyguy Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Shaping up nicely. Keep up the good work.
RAT-T Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 THE IRON PAINT LOOKS COOL, DO YOU RUB THAT ON?
exesivefire Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 THE IRON PAINT LOOKS COOL, DO YOU RUB THAT ON?used various methods, but mostly a dry brush or shop towel.
wayne swayze Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Still diggin' this a lot! Keep it up!
exesivefire Posted September 13, 2015 Author Posted September 13, 2015 This works.. now I need to mount this back there
exesivefire Posted September 15, 2015 Author Posted September 15, 2015 Made decent progress today, trying to get all the major fab work done before I start moving onto detailing and paint. I started with mounting that rear axle. Smoothed it out (had to widen it a bit) made boxed link mounts and made a 4 link using aluminum tube and RB motion rod ends. after that I needed a break from those tedious little links, so I whipped up a spun aluminum gas tank. Calculations shows it should hold about 11 gallons, should be more than enough to get to a couple car shows. Now I have a rolling chassis. also started messing with the body a bit more. couldn't resist a mock up.
62pyro Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Looking good. Good to see you getting some use out of the Sherlines.

bobthehobbyguy Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Nice. Are you using the cutter for the brackets?
