gatorincebu Posted September 15, 2015 Posted September 15, 2015 Some nice work happening here! I like the motor swap. And regardless of tire size . I think a little body lift would be on order. Be Well Gator
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 22, 2015 Author Posted September 22, 2015 Well I got tires for this project, two sets actually. The Trxus 46" Tires from Scenes Unlimited are the best quality that I've seen in aftermarket cast tires. But I had my heart set on the 48" Iroks for this project. A big thanks to "mikemodeler" who came up with the very tires and wheels that I was looking for. These tires were exactly what I was looking for. The 46" Trxus tires have inspired another project. So they will be put to good use. Thanks for all the comments....Brian
Petetrucker07 Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Man, that is a beast. Then stuff a 8v92! That thing would pull a house out of mud hole, in winter, going up hill. Looks killer.
Superpeterbilt Posted September 22, 2015 Posted September 22, 2015 Looking great. I'm glad you found the right tires.
mikemodeler Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Glad to be of help and that truck is looking great on those big tires and arched springs. Now get it done and get busy on the next one!
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 23, 2015 Author Posted September 23, 2015 Looking great. I'm glad you found the right tires. Thanks Terry, Me too!Man, that is a beast. Then stuff a 8v92! That thing would pull a house out of mud hole, in winter, going up hill. Looks killer. Thanks Clayton. I'm guessing that this twin turbo setup on the 6v-71 would have around 500hp. (guessing) We used to tractor pull with some folks that pulled Olivers with 3-71s on them and they got some awesome power out of those without turbos and not turning over 2500 rpm. The tractor pulling association banned the 4-71s because nothing could touch them. So I'm hoping that it would at least pull a small camping trailer out of a mud hole, in winter, up hill. (LOL) But even if it has to be towed with a chain it's going to look cool.Glad to be of help and that truck is looking great on those big tires and arched springs. Now get it done and get busy on the next one! Thanks again Mike! You've been a big help! Thanks again for all the comments guys!!!!
guitarsam326 Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 I agree with ya Brian, the 48's look way better!
Maindrian Pace Posted September 23, 2015 Posted September 23, 2015 Righteous. I like the general shape of the 46s better, but the 48s are very aggressive.

DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 24, 2015 Author Posted September 24, 2015 Yep. I think I see what you mean by those mad mudder truck tires not working Brian!! These look MUCH better!! Cool build. Thanks Kevin, I had tested the Ground Hawgs from the Mad Mudder before, and they weren't really what I was looking for on this build, but I'm sure they will be used on another project. Sam, Mike, Gator and everyone who has commented, Thanks for the comments. I hope to make some more progress this week.
disabled modeler Posted September 24, 2015 Posted September 24, 2015 Those Ground Hogs look nice Brian....keep up the great work cant wait to see it done...

Sam, Mike, Gator and everyone who has commented, Thanks for the comments. I hope to make some more progress this week. I'd say you made the right choice in wheels/tires. The Ground Hawg's just don't have the same "pop' as the Irok's.
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 Some nice work happening here! I like the motor swap. And regardless of tire size . I think a little body lift would be on order. Be Well Gator Gator you called it right. I was hoping to avoid a body lift, but as you can see the hood is not going to shut, and oddly enough I wanted to maintain a stock hood. So this one will be getting a body lift as well. At least the tires shouldn't rub (LOL) Thanks again to all who have commented....Brian
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 26, 2015 Author Posted September 26, 2015 A little more done on the engine. Air filters mounted, P/S pump added, Alt. ran off of rear Acc. drive (Yes that's a Mopar Alt.). The highest HP rating for a 6v-71T road application was about 285HP @ 2100rpm. There were however Marine application 6v-71TA (A is for aftercooler) engines that produced 430HP @ 2500rpm. So without the aftercooler but a second turbo added I still believe between 430 and 500 hp @ 2800 rpm could be squeezed out of this one with the addition of a few internal modifications that is common among tractor pullers. Regardless of the HP, I think it still looks kind of cool anyway.
Petetrucker07 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 You are right, it is way cool. A twin turbo, blown V6 Detroit. This would a screamin, whistlin little motor. This build is the poster child for usin your noggin.

gatorincebu Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 That twin turbo is just sick lookin! Be Well Gator
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 A little more progress today. Engine installed, P/S hoses on, Shocks and Stabilizers on, traction bars on, vent hoses, and a few other odds and ends. Not completely happy with it, but I rarely am. That twin turbo is just sick lookin! Be Well Gator Thanks Gator!
disabled modeler Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Brian....I dig it...looks very cool to me...
DRIPTROIT 71 Posted September 30, 2015 Author Posted September 30, 2015 Thanks Terry and Mark! Here is the final ride height. I still have some mounts to make, but this is how it will look minus the warped hood. (I hope I can get it straight)
Superpeterbilt Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) Thanks Terry and Mark! Here is the final ride height. I still have some mounts to make, but this is how it will look minus the warped hood. (I hope I can get it straight) Sometimes a little man handlin is necessary to get it right.
