Junkman Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I wonder if they still have the four door promo tooling? Even if they do, they rather waste styrene on such dismal tat as the Dog Catcher.Imagine they would reissue everything that has four doors or is a wagon.Don't they realise, that we would kick each others heads in to get to those?
ChrisBcritter Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 I wonder if they still have the four door promo tooling? They might not; it wouldn't surprise me if they made the promo first and reworked it to make the two-door kit. Check out the interior on the '61 kit, and you'll see that instead of rear window handles there are door handles molded in!
Johnt671 Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Here's a Falcon Ranchero I'm building now. The kit. My take.
Tom Geiger Posted September 9, 2015 Posted September 9, 2015 Hey John! I must have a few dozen of that Ranchero, including many original customs built by people back in that era. One of my favorite old kits.A question- looking at your photo above I see you put Bare Metal Foil over the Ranchero emblem. You do know that you need to trim that completely around the letters so only the letters are foiled. The way you have it now, those edges will show through your paint job. The foil, then paint trick is so that the paint color fills in the letters.
Craig Irwin Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 E. J. Potter's Allison V-12 powered Dart wagon.
Sixties Sam Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I found this Revell 62 Valiant on eBay years ago and rebuilt it as a model of a real 62 I once owned. The Revell 62 Mopars were decent kits for their time.
Junkman Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Yeah, I wonder what happened to those tools.
Johnt671 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Tom,This is the first time I foiled the fine trim details on a kit, and I painted it before I read you reply, but it worked out ok. I did another coat of primer before I I finish coated it, and the lines only show when the light hits just right. I'll do a better job next time. Thanks for the tip.
