berr13 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Can someone tell me definitely when to spray Tamiya gloss clear over a paint job? I read somewhere that it needs to be done either within half an hour of the paint application or at least a month afterward. Is this correct? And does the same apply to Testors glosscoat? Thanks for setting me straight.
High octane Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Over the years I've been spraying my color coats one day and my clear coats the next day. I seems to work great for me.
Ramfins59 Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 Yeah, give your lacquer color coats at least a full day to dry before clearing them and you should be OK.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 2, 2015 Posted October 2, 2015 Ditto.I usually give it 24 hours before clear. But, I will add, I stopped using Testors clear because of major cracking problems. But, nobody else seems to be having that issue, so I'll just chalk it up to "painter error"Although, I have not had similar issues with Duplicolor clear. Lespaultazz Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Anybody use the tamyia spray paint on there cars, I know it's lacquer based, when I built tanks I liked it better then testors,
ZTony8 Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 For Tamiya TS-13 you DO have to follow the few minutes or a month guideline.Otherwise you WILL experience cracking.
Exotics_Builder Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 Anybody use the tamyia spray paint on there cars, I know it's lacquer based, when I built tanks I liked it better then testors, This was done with Tamiya Pure White and Orange from the shaker can and TS-13 Clear decanted and airbrushed:
