Petetrucker07 Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 (edited) Thanks for lookin fellas. Made some progress on this tonight at the Hotel. I made the front bumper/light bar. Im leaving it removable so i can put it back i the box for transport. I also made the "cage" for the interior. Kept it very simple. Here are some pics of the progress. signmike Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 Nice setup, looks good. Will you use the stock suspensions?. I like it very much.
Petetrucker07 Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 Yeah. I'm not gonna gettin crazy with this. It has the right stance already, so there's no need to change it.
Petetrucker07 Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Thanks guys. I really do appreciated the comments. I'm at a point with this where I can't work on it at the Hotel anymore. It's time to start the paint and I don't want to have paint, brushes, and whatever else bouncing around in the truck. I'm hopin this only needs a few more days and it'll be done. It's been a few months since I've finished anything.
gatorincebu Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Clayton, You are doing fine! You've done some nice work on this project. And don't worry about finishing. Just enjoy the build ! Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Thanks Gator and Dennis. This only has a few hours of work left. I know it'll get done when it's done. I'm not rushin at all. Hopefully I'll get some time today while the baby is sleepin and wife us out shoppin.
kilrathy10 Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 Just found your thread for this....I keep forgetting to check this section for stuff....This is looking AWESOME.....Great job, so far....You're really getting it done....Awesome....
Petetrucker07 Posted October 29, 2015 Author Posted October 29, 2015 Thanks JT. I'm hopin to get this wrapped up so I can take it to an IPMS Show in a couple weeks with a couple of my big truck builds and my Yenko Nova.
gatorincebu Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Clayton, All the tubing work looks great. As for the suspension.I would just add a set of shocks ?? :-) Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Thanks for the comments guys. Since work kept me from getting things together for the show today, figured it's a good time to get to the bench. I made the rear light bar mounts. I roughly set it in place. Next up for the day.. prime, paint and hopefully finish. Here are a few pics of the light bar set up.
Petetrucker07 Posted November 7, 2015 Author Posted November 7, 2015 Laid some color on this. Duplicolor Dark Ford Blue, Duplicolor pure white and kit plastic red, all cleared with Tamiya clear.
gatorincebu Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Clayton, you did a really nice job on the paint! Be Well Gator
Petetrucker07 Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 (edited) Thanks Gator. I was a little worried. I got in a hurry, the winds blowing and it's a bit on the chilly side today. All the ingredients for disaster, but I got very lucky, pulled off a 3 tone paint job. I really should quit flirtin with disaster. Edited November 8, 2015 by Petetrucker07
Superpeterbilt Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 I just found this. Nice styrene work on all of the bars. This is a cool project, and a cool transformation of the kit.
Petetrucker07 Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks Terry. I'm pretty happy with the results. This was my first time doing this kind of styrene work. This kit has so much potential, it just needs someone willin to put a little extra work in on a snapper.Oscar, that's exactly what I was goin for. I'm not a Ford guy, but have always liked the look of the Rough Riders team.
kilrathy10 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Yeah, Buddy.....This is looking really good.....Really good.....Excellent work on all the scaffolding.....Just awesome.....
kilrathy10 Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Oh, yeah....That paint looks great, too.....Love how you used the plastic color....Awesome....Looks great....
Petetrucker07 Posted November 8, 2015 Author Posted November 8, 2015 Thanks JT. The red it's molded in was the right color, so I went with it. The mold on these is really nice, pretty much no lines. I'm gettin antsy to see this, well anything on my bench as of late, done. A little bit more paint work, then this will be done. Hopefully tomorrow night it'll be under glass. I couldn't resist setting the body on, gives me an idea of what it'll look like.
