Nova-ss Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 hi all,is there a software app that can keep me knowledgeable about my collectio and builds...thanks..Chris.
snacktruck67 Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I use Excel and make it fit my requirements.
Harry Joy Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Yep. Excel is the simplest thing to use. I track all my kits, and certain paints and aftermarket, using it. A long time ago, I downloaded a sheet off the net for this, but long ago figured out that it's easier to just make my own, since I can adjust everything to fit my own needs.
SfanGoch Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 (edited) If you want to keep track online, there's My Hobby Info and Scalemate's Stash Manager. No spreadsheets or thinking required. My kinda way to do things. Edited October 22, 2015 by SfanGoch

charlie8575 Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Excel or Quattro Pro (Word Perfect's spreadsheet) or the Open Office Calc all work well for this type of application.Setting the spreadsheet up is not that difficult. Column headers below:Manufacturer Model Mfr. # Qty. on-hand Notes Very easy. Takes two minutes to set up and re-size the columns, and as long as you need to enter data. Charlie Larkin
Roadrunner Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 I don't keep track (yet), as I don't have all that much car stuff, but for books (I have a ton of those), I use MS Excel or Open Office database.
iangilly Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I use scalemates and love it, although I've had to add kits that were missing from that site one or two times.
Tom Geiger Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 An inventory is only as good as you keeping it up to date! I failed miserably in that area. Maybe 5-6 years ago I wanted to learn Microsoft Access, so I tooled up a model car inventory program. I got about 1000 pieces into it, and then never looked back. If I was to do something today, I'd want to have access to it on my iphone. After all, I'm most likely to need to know if I have something at a show or club meeting.I keep track of my old built ups with a photograph folder on Fotki. A few quick photos and it's much easier than trying to describe them.
